Rules: In a text post, list 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard - they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you.Tag 10 friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them!
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - While I like high fantasy, it's a genre I rarely read because it's kind of hard for me to get into, but Rothfuss makes it a lot more accessible It has everything you'd want from the genre but with a stronger focus on characters.
Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling - It's what got me into reading in the first place.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - While I love Looking for Alaska because it basically bitch-slaps the concept of the manic pixie dream girl, the rest of the book doesn't hold up quite as well as The Fault in Our Stars.
Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis - The essence of Warren Ellis' writing has been condensed into a 277 page bundle of pure madness. I've never had more fun reading a book.
The Secret Library of Thaddäus Tillman Trutz by Ralf Issau - One of the spin-off books of The Never Ending Story. It's a fun ride through familiar scenery.
Blue Beetle by Keith Giffen/John Rogers - I guess I'm cheating from this point on, but I've just read a lot more comics than books, and this Blue Beetle run introduced me to the world of superhero comics.
Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis - Yes, another one by Warren Ellis. Crooked Little Vein is a compilation of everything I love about Ellis, but Transmetropolitan is what made me fall in love with his work in the first place.
Y The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan - Probably the best written comic I've read so far. It is an incredible accomplishment and I couldn't think of a better book to read if you want to get into comics.
Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon - The quintessential mainstream superhero run.
Ultimate Spider-Man by Brian Michael Bendis - It is everything you love about Spider-Man, but written by the same person from his origin up to his death (and beyond). It's more streamlined, it doesn't have 50+ years of backlog, and most importantly - no more One More Day!
I don't usually forward these, but I could need some new books to read, so I'm gonna tag lexitastic, missmayze, harleymquin, letloosethekraken, stormofsnow, cognaclilacfumes and samanfuu
