Another work from Lexivine, this time an OC of mine: Miyuki!
In life, Miyuki was a warm woman with a talent for magic who lived in the town of Bentley. When not volunteering as part of the town guard, she could be found in the local tavern, singing to earn a bit of extra coin for her family or making merry with those that frequented the tavern. In fact, many women of the town fondly recall her flirting.
Sadly things were not peaceful for long. While she and the other town guards could handle the odd monster or bandit attack, illness was a beast of its own. Many people, including Miyuki’s own brother, found themselves succumbing to a plague that had haunted the town before. It was well known by the community, but the problem was that the herb did not grow locally. In order to obtain the herb to synthesize the cure, they would have to traverse plains that were considered dangerous at the best of times, right during the middle of winter. Though few were brave enough to make the journey, Miyuki ultimately volunteered.
Days passed and yet she still did not return. The townspeople grew concerned, both for themselves and for her. What could have happened? Finally, just as all home seemed lost, a terrible and frigid wind blew through the town, covering everything in a sheet of snow and ice. When the townspeople left their homes to investigate, all they found was a basket of herbs they needed sitting in the middle of town, covered by a thin dusting of frost.
In the end, nobody knows for sure what happened to her. However, many believe that a spirit haunts those plains, keeping it locked in an eternal winter. And that each year, the storm grows worse and worse.
