Lexus pleaded for her now-husband to get along with his new brother-in-law. But getting along with someone who clearly did not want to be gotten along with was going to prove difficult...
Meanwhile, at Maserati’s birthday party...
Lexus had been dating Dhruv since they were teenagers.
Well, they said they were dating but really the amount of dates they had been on were minimal. They were in clubs together and saw each other frequently but hardly were romantic aside from a peck on the lips here and there. And she called him every day yet his name never escaped her lips in front of family.
In short, Lexus didn’t think that they were at all a serious couple until something changed within her after Winterfest.
As the only adult, she saw herself as the head of household, and she thought she gave and gave so much for her siblings only for her efforts to go unnoticed and unappreciated. What changed within her was the realization that she needed to live for herself, not her precious Mas, Bug, and Cesar.
When she looked back on it, family obligations seemed to be the thing that kept her at a distance with Dhruv, but as much as she hated it she couldn’t escape that.
So for her, the only logical thing was to make Dhruv family.
Fortunately, Dhruv agreed.
At long last Winterfest arrived for the surviving Legacy family. As the new head of household, Lexus had been looking forward to this for weeks.
She cooked the Grand Meal for everyone, even if she did burn the Tofurky which she only made out of tofu for Bugatti - who didn’t even eat a damn slice anyway! Bugatti wasn’t interested in any of the sacred family traditions in the slightest and preferred to stay in her room upstairs while the rest of the family proceeded in their merriment.
But that was fine since Lexus and Maserati decorated and lit the tree while singing Christmas Carols and drinking nectar. Cesar was a little too young to help out with that, so he was busy creating winter crafts and his own “nectar” (whatever that was about). Even with Bugatti absent, Lex almost didn’t even mind that her brother later sabotaged the tree and filled her present with eels.
Almost.
However, there was one tradition of their parents’ that she could not stand, and that was the annual fighting with Father Winter for more presents. Bugatti agreed for once with Lexus and abstained from that tradition and, well, again Cesar was just too young.
So it was Maserati who solely carried the family torch and subsequently got his ass handed to him in his first fight by Father Winter.
(But that, too, was tradition.)
Freshly free from her teenage hormones and now a true Mediator, Lexus’s first act of adulthood was to make up with her brother Maserati. Selvadorada did a number on them as a family, but it didn’t have to be that way with their relationship.
Surprisingly, he agreed to the reconciliation and even seemed relieved. After all, he was the only one left in the family who actually wanted to see everyone together, even if he did relish in their misery from time to time.
Happy Adult Birthday, Lexus! Happy Child Birthday, Cesar!
With Bentley’s death, the 7th Generation of the Legacy teens (and toddler) were officially a gaggle of adult-less orphans. Sure, Maserati and Bugatti were teenagers alongside their big sister, but they were prone to goofing off and not taking anything seriously. It was fortunate that Lexus was more responsible than not, but now she was really going to be put to the test.
All eyes were on her as the oldest sibling. How would she manage the family? What was to become of all of them?
Only time would tell.
