If I were to transfer my FR chars to my headverse, I’d most likely plop them off in pre-LFDN Neirana, during that era when the (new) gods were still figuring their shit out and the mainland was still split in a bajilion individual territories that were often at war.
I’d have enough room to keep magical use an actual thing, and I mean, if I go back far enough, I can even keep the shapeshifting magic for some of them - I have a canon shapeshifter from the Ages of Old, who can turn themself into a dragon, and is the last living user of that magic (they’re immortal). Implying it was widespread once. I don’t think I’d keep that up for many of them tho.
The only problems I’d need to solve are some details like Guardian culture and why the heck would they be bound to a single thing/person to protect. I can make Imperials and Emperors a case of “These People Got Cursed AF” since it’s basically only relevant to Cenric in my lore, but I got a shitton of Guardians and they can’t be all from the same place. Hm.
