@skysamba I was gonna reply to our original discussion but the post was getting long so like. QUICK BAD SUMMARY: WHAT HAPPENED TO EDGEGRANDPA???

tl;dr: he dead. he’s so dead.

BUT. I think, last I checked into this blog, he was still living out with his tiny Charge, bless his heart, and generally having an OK time aside of, yknow, being mad shaded and not being fully there at all.

Then at some point they met this fucker, who was absolutely perfectly nice because she’s good and has no bad intentions whatsoever- no. Well, it’s partly true. She was very nice, perhaps a little too much. Definitely too much for Ephah’s liking. Though eventually he managed to get her to leave them alone and he got as far away from her as he could, taking Elymas away with him.

Except Una didn’t see it like that, and had decided that the kid would be better with her. So she followed them from afar, waited until Ephah’s guard was down, and attacked with blessed weapons. Which are particularly nasty to a Shaded individual. She took Elymas and got the fuck away, leaving the grandpa for dead. 

Except he wasn’t! And when he woke up, he was pretty pissed to find his Charge gone. Grief-stricken, angry Guardians are bad. Grief-stricken, angry Guardians who are so badly infected with Shade it’s a miracle they’re even alive are worse. Kinda lost himself there. So of course people reported him as a threat, and one of the people who got there to get rid of the shadebeast happened to be Shenir. 

She recognized him, and because this grandma is Morally Conflicted about things sometimes, she decided to go against protocol (and common sense) and, instead of killing him there and then, she had him restrained and brought back to her temple under the pretense that purifying him fully would demand more resources than available on the spot. But instead, she hid him away in unused parts of the older buildings, pretending she had gotten rid of him.

She attempted non-lethal purifying rituals to try and save her old friend from the Shade’s influence, but nothing worked. Some days he would be lost to his madness, incoherent, a beast that only roared for his Charge and nothing else. Some days, fully silent. Sometimes, though, he would find some lucidity again- and the two would talk as much as they could. Even those days, he didn’t make much sense; his sense of self had almost fully eroded, over years of infection taking over him, being kept at bay only by a weakening divine blessing.

This went on for weeks, perhaps even several months, of Shenir spending increasing amounts of time with him in his cell, in hopes their talks would help him remember more of his old self. She would sometimes just talk on her own, even when he was unresponsive, finding some comfort in having someone with whom to reflect upon times that were long since passed. 

Then the Lightweaver spoke to her children. And of course, they both heard Her. With both their Charges being Imperials, both cherished children of the Mother, Her words held a considerable weight- and, somehow, the voice of their goddess had cleared the fog from Ephah’s mind.

The two Guardians had a long, long talk, at the end of which Ephah implored her to find Elymas and take care of him, if he proved unable to beat his affliction. He also attempted to give her his Sunchaser’s jewelry, which he felt he had stopped being worthy of wearing a long, long time ago. Shenir didn’t accept, but even though she wished she could stay with him more, she had duties to attend to, and had to leave.

When she came to visit him the next day, she found Acantha, her lieutenant and right hand, standing in his cell instead along with a handful of other paladins, a smile on her lips over the light-burned remains of the old dragon. She’d grown curious of Shenir’s repeated absences, and what else could she do once she found Ephah but eradicate a creature so Shaded? It was only right. He was a danger. Makes one wonder what business Shenir had keeping him there...

Anyhow, grandma shenir was potentially in hot waters despite her status and influence, not to mention pretty miffed over her friend’s death, and preferred to leave her position entirely before Acantha made a move with her newfound knowledge. She took the Sunchaser’s, undamaged by the holy energy, and got the HECK away to find that one kid that used to be Ephah’s Charge.

Meanwhile, that grandpa’s still in “got blasted by high concentration holy Light energy” death hell.

Quick Lore Catchup: Who’s Who?

UPDATED edition because WOW the last one sure listed a lot of people who don’t even exist anymore huh. Time to clean that up.

This is a rough outline of some of my dragons I may talk about most often, and what’s going on with their lives! Not everyone’s in there, but it’s a good start. (and a nice alternative to my extremely outdated and/or empty bios :D)

I don’t have a set clan, so I will group this in... rough groups of dragons that may or may not be related. Yeah.

The Lighties

Because one has to follow their flight’s aesthetics, amirite? Most peeps here have some relation to the Lightweaver. Or the Shade. Often both.

Elymas: A young Imperial child made of the purest Light... and infected by the Shade due to his Guardian’s carelessness. Too innocent and good for any of this. Everyone and their grandma is after him for some reason. He makes a good blog theme. More about him here.

Ephah: A really old Guardian who spent much too long on his Search and kinda lost his mind along the way. The Shade might be responsible for that too. Used to serve the Light, now he hides from it. Ely is his Charge.

Shenir: Old Light Paladin with a glorious past, who might be a living legend but refuses to settle down and rest. Knew Ephah, long ago. Has 99 problems and nearly every single one is due to the other people in this section.

Lior: Sellsword and shade-hunter, don’t mind the fact that he’s shaded as well. Upbeat, super friendly, just wants to help. Genuinely a good guy??? A boy you could trust with your life probably. Had to take care of Elymas for like three days once and would now do almost anything for that kid. 

The (Ex) Pirates

Once upon a time I had a crew of air pirates, flying aboard the Crescendo Trickster. Now they’re disbanded. Some of these still have stories going, though.

Eydis: Once the captain of a crew of air pirates, now back to her homeland in Earth, living next to her grounded vessel. Fearsome leader, though hardships wore her down. Family status: really complicated. Cenric’s her best friend, Zach used to be her husband. 

Cenric: Ex-pirate quartermaster, now a sellsword. The calm one. Has been through Some Shit. Part-Lightning, his elemental magics are fucked, but he’s also mad strong. Found where his work takes him. Eyd’s BFF, dating Zach, Ice’s his daughter of sorts.

Zachariah: Ex-pirate. Ridiculously skilled Wind mage. Shit hit the fan harder than he could take and now depression’s kicking his ass. Trying his best where he can. Rumor has it he’s the son of the Windsinger (it’s true.) Dating Cenric, Eydis used to be his wife.

The Morgans (& co):

I’m not even sorry, those deserve their own section. I do a lot with them. Since all the siblings are named Morgan, I refer to them by nicknames.

Morgan “Ice”: Gryphon-riding sellsword with a heavy past. Heavily Shaded. Apathetic & nihilistic, yet burning with the strongest need to survive through it all. Cenric adopted them, sort of.

Morgan “Seer”: A kind and quiet boy who used to be an oracle for the court of a now-gone kingdom. Has frequent visions of past, present, and future alike. Makes his life as a baker. Has pet mice who he loves very much.

The Tactician/The Allseer: The right hand to a war lord/A man who claims to the divine. Villainous AU versions of the previous two Morgans who became their own characters. I don’t know what to say.

I’d want to talk about other people but this post is getting too long skglsfhjsd so I’ll make a character page?? Later???? Maybe. To sum this all up and add people. Like my Macbelle kids. Or the Ruinkeepers. Or Carver and related plot chars. Or the whole Erin-Iraira-Aiden mess. Or- ahem.

because I'm bored in the car home with an hour of traffic ahead of me Here is a non-exhaustive list of story arks that happened at some point, but that I never sat down to write:

Everything with the founding of the Stardust Wanderers in Arcane, plus their subsequent move to Wind

That whole bit with the centaurs and Basil stealing eggs, though an attempt was made, and the move to Earth

The whole damn nuzlocke- ok, that one still exists somewhere deep in the FR forums, but I never finished writing it

I thiiiiink I wrote /something/ for Adara and Jadeb's reunion, but??????? who even knows. Not nearly as much as I had thought up anyways

Everything around the Crescendo Trickster's crew (pre-timeskip)

What was supposed to happen during the Siege of Sharphorn, but that belongs in the salt mines

Subsequently, Cenric and Morgan's time together

Tbh the whole of Cenric's backstory until the CT's days. Eydis would deserve it too probably. ...and most everyone else.

Erin's timeskip family adventure (RIP Sav Sr., Asha best daughter always)

The whole damn Brightshine ark around the Shifting Sands troupe

Timeskip shenanigans for the rest of the crew, and then Cen rejoining (and the beginnings of his relationship with Zach, bc this useless gay falling in love deserves to be written about)

General slice-of-life things, ft Angelo and Carver, or the Dragon DnD party

That. WHOLE damn bit around the unnamed Shadow court. Samael and Velsuan's whole 'i know that you know that etc', Seer in general, Moeken and Leiben finally being used somewhere, the artifacts bs, the place being straight up obliterated. Honestly I'm most mad about this because of Seer, this kid would make 800% more sense with that context, I literally built almost all of it all around him

The two-parter around Carver's death, though this one gets an honorable mention because I posted a summary

The 'cameo specials' around @daringdragons's lore, which can be summarized by "Kepi, What The Everloving Fuck"

Carver's Dreamland Ghost Adventures™, ft Kilien and Soren... hahaha. Soren.

The SOATC ark, from Najdeid to Angelo to me still crying about Leon months later, also Varnah being the MVP of the whole thing, and Zach doing That™ like nbd

The end of the pirate crew, what's going on up in Earth with Kilien and Oka, the parents bickering I guess

Fionn in the Icefield fucking shit up (including Fendel's face probably, with Ninevh helping a bit), and upcoming stuff with Ono, Moire n co

Anything and everything around Elymas, ft Una, Icegan and Lior (best boy), now ft. Day (im so blessed). Plus, in parallel of that, what's happening with Shenir and Ephah.

Other stuff that are in the works because there's ALWAYS things in the works. Those are mostly related to friends. I'm honored and also terrified of fucking shit up. I'm so happy.
