In 2016 suede became huge. First it was Anthony Vaccarello with his Fall/Winter 2015-2016 fashion show. The Italian-Belgian designer preferred it to be short, asimmetrical and openwork, right in the middle, between grunge and savana style.

Then there were Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Narciso Rodriguez and Derek Lam, who, in New York, wandered from the 70′s to the 90′s aestethics. It was all about pastel colours and fit lines, the same journey Roksanda, Balmain and Tod’s were in for.

In Milan, Alberta Ferretti goes gipsy and boho, bringing to the catwalk fringes, stripes, transparencies and embroideries, mixed up with camel-colour suede; whilst to construct his ethnic and sailor vibes, Tommy Hilfiger uses suede on the bold and the modern, like outerwear and bijoux.

A touch of femininity was displayed also by the 2016 spring collection signed Rebecca Minkoff. The American designer reinvented the poncho, using laces as a decorative element.

And it was suede-mania also for Burberry‘s and Max Mara‘s creative teams, where trenches and accessories took over in warm and elegant nuances.
