DREAM HIGH MUSICAL

after a successful audition, the cast for the musical has been found and the production is now underway. the final casting was officially announced on JANUARY 30, and the first script reading happened almost immediately after on FEBRUARY 1. only the main cast was asked to be present. they began rehearsal that same week. the ensemble cast, however, will officially join rehearsals on FEBRUARY 8. they are, however, expected to come in with a minimum of preparation.

truth be told, she did not want to take part in the musical at all. sure, she was up for opportunities that could help with her experience and journey with becoming an idol. she could sing, dance, and perform in general just fine. in fact, the idea of performing in front of a live audience in front of cameras sounded exciting to her. but of course, with everything good comes with a catch. at the end of the day, this was a musical... and with that being said, she had to act in it. and that girl had no talent in that field, due to her stubborn attitude with not investing her time in something she was not automatically good at.

but there were many reasons why she was thankful to live the life she’s living now, one of them being her darling friend ahn yein. who would she be without the girl? most likely frustrated out of her mind at the auditions. she was not only someone she could pick on— no wait— rely on. she, unlike natalie herself, was an aspiring actress who happened to not be too fond of singing and dancing. so the both of them being in ensemble together was fate in their eyes. of course, they cause a ruckus with their constant bickering, but at least they were able to help each other improve... somewhat.

with today’s rehearsals being focused on choreography, she looks at her friend with a a pout before she goes on to whine. “come onnnn, yein!” she sounds like an annoying child begging to their older sibling, but she doesn’t acknowledge it. “just go through the choreo one more time! i’ll play the music for you and everything, if that’ll help. and i won’t make fun of you." that was a lie. natalie knew it was a lie. even yein probably knew that the words coming out of her friend’s mouth were full of shit. “well... i’ll try not to. but i believe in you! you can do this!”

the room bustled with commotion, lights on mirrors blazing all around the room as frantic actresses prepared themselves for the big show. the commotion would probably leave most people sitting in the audience restless and anxious, but for minji, this was what fueled her passion for performance. this was not the first time she had been in a theatrical performance; growing up in the states, she had been a part of a youth performing arts troupe in her city for many years before returning to korea to become an idol. if she didn’t want to be an idol, she was sure she would be just as happy being a musical actor. maybe one day, when she had her run as a successful idol, she would consider going into musical theatre as well. it’s just a dream though, of course.

she pressed her mic tape onto her cheek carefully, knowing how finnicky it could be, while she paced around the large dressing room being used for the event. as part of the ensemble, she was part of a large room full of what seemed like hundreds of costumes scattered all around the room, organized by scene for any actress who needed a quick change. after days and days of rehearsal, it all worked like clockwork, but no rehearsal compared to the rush of opening night. aimlessly wandering around the dressing room, she came across another girl, and decided that was going to be who she occupied her time with before it was time to go on stage. she walked over to her, plopping down on the nearby empty chair as she played with the hem of her costume. “are you just about ready, do you think? i’m so excited, there must be hundreds of people out there! thousands if you count the television viewers! this is going to be so fun, oh my gosh!” she smiled widely, imagining getting to perform on stage for an audience once again.

₊ ˟ it's hard not to see him on the set of dream high. he's one of the major players after all, a main character - allie thinks that at least, she should congratulate him. it's difficult though for her to make her approach in between the throngs of people and her own misgivings ... just because they managed to make it through one simple dinner awkwardly doesn't mean that suddenly she and her brother are on the best of terms. but hyungsik - sehoon ... - she misses her brother more than words can say. it keeps her reaching out even if she doesn't get much back in return, even if it breaks her heart always and makes her think that this time will be the last time.

but dinner gave her hope. so she's going to do her best for just one more time.

she finds a spare minute between the constant moving bodies trying to teach them the choreography and the lyrics, the lecturing staffs about learning lines and different scenes to find him standing alone. allie breathes a sigh of relief as she manages to catch him from behind, her fingers gentle as they latch around his wrist just like they used to when she was a much younger girl and he would take her everywhere by the hand. " oppa ..." she mumbles, knowing he'll hear her even if she's speaking low. " congratulations on your part."
