“...Huh. Okay, then.” Cassie, said, calmly, a few seconds before she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began to freak the fuck out. This was not - this could not - absolutely, fucking goddamn, could not be happening. But of course, it was. She needed to leave the room, get out of here and away from everyone else before she broke down into tears or slammed her head into aw all or kicked that goddamn fucking dog and was killed on the spot. After a few seconds of her body refusing to respond, she managed to turn around and leave, walking at first but soon breaking into a run.
She wasn’t breathing, she wasn’t thinking, and she wasn’t sure where she was going - anywhere, really. Anywhere where nobody would see her freak out, not that they hadn’t already see her start shaking and running away like some pathetic little freak, but there was always damage control that could be done/ Besides, she needed a place to think. She found herself, eventually, in the lounge, curled up on a couch, her knees drawn up to her chin and her arms around them, breathing sharply and irregularly.
Of course, the situation wasn’t quite a complete surprise. The lack of apparent connection between her fellow captives had given her suspicions of a less apparent connection. But while she’d expected something like this, she hadn’t been expecting this. What the hell was she to do now? It seemed that question would have to wait a while to be answered, as her thinking was interrupted by someone entering the room, something which led her to almost flinch. Looking up with a scowl, one hand nervously pulling at her hair, she muttered, “If you’re going to kill me... go for the throat and make it quick.” It was quite hard to tell if she was being sarcastic of not.
