LOVING HER WAS PAIN || CH2
Lily was once again in the kitchen, but this time she was alone â adding the eggs for her familyâs breakfast in the pan. Cooking was always something that brought her peace. There was no angry yelling or tears or sadness involved. It was just her, the stove, and silence. Consequently, sheâd become quite good at her craft, constantly researching new techniques and buying new cookbooks, desperate for something to put her energy into â something that wasnât going to hurt her back, like people did.
 But like all things currently in Lilyâs life, it couldnât be perfect. A fact made clear when some oil angrily leapt out of the pan, splattering itself to her front and her arms.
 Lily immediately screamed, causing her husband to run in from the other room.
 âLily, what the hell is going on?!â
 âHamilton, oh god â help me! Get me the ointment, please! Itâs above the-â
 She was still in so much shock and pain that she couldnât put herself on the defensive like she was used to doing lately.
 âJesus Lily, seriously?â her husband said, unmoving as he watched her in agony. âYou burned yourself? You just canât do anything right, can you?!â
 He grabbed a dishtowel and threw it at her before storming out of the room, but it fell right out of her still shaking hands.
 ~~~~~
 Breakfast was nearly over, but Simon had barely touched his food when the doorbell rang. Lily had answered it to find a very cute and well put together Sarah Paulson, complete with a crisp blue shirt and flowing skirt. She pretended not to see the eyes of her husband following the brunette as she was led in to the dining room. Instead, she sat the girl next to Simon and returned to her meal, only to see Sarah pick up one of Simonâs toys to entertain him, eventually placating him enough so that he began to eat as well.  âOh, finally. A woman thatâs both hot and actually able to do some good around here.â  Sarah looked up at Lilyâs husband, utter shock and disgust on her face. âThe nameâs Sarah.â  âWell, regardless, youâre just what this house needs.â And finalizing his statement with a wink, he got up from the table, leaving his dirty dishes behind.  Sarah didnât falter. âYou just gonna just leave those, or what?â  âOh donât worry, Lily can get âem. It was nice to meet you, S-âŠuhâŠâ  âItâs Sarah.âÂ
âRight, well, hopefully Iâll come home to a peaceful house for once, thanks to youâŠâ and with that, he was off.Â
~~~~~ Calm was present again in the house. Lily had stopped walking towards the room containing Sarah and her son, just standing still to listen. For once, there was no screaming or crying or loud noise of any kind. And it was all because of the younger woman.  She was honestly taken aback with the natural talent Sarah had with children.  âMaybe itâs her peaceful voice that calms them down, instead of my creepy deep and manly oneâŠâ she thought, as she began to walk back towards the room again.  However, as she rushed forward, she stumbled over the brunetteâs purse, everything inside falling out of it. âOh, for Godâs sake!â she cursed. âWhen will I stop being so disoriented?â She bent over to pick Sarahâs things off of the floor. ââŠAnd I always end up blaming Hamilton for calling me stupidâŠâ  But she was pulled out of her thoughts at the noise of a familiar sound â a text tone. It must have been Sarahâs phone. She searched around the spilled items quickly, planning to tell Sarah that someone was trying to contact her. But a text message popped out on the screen right in front of her just as she found it.Â
Pedro<3 - âBaby, you left me so stupidly turned on this morning. I loved it last night, SO much⊠but I was hoping you could come by when youâre done at Lilyâs? Love you, call me.â
Lily felt heat radiating from her face down to her thighs, suddenly flushed. Looking down past the screen, she saw a very particular item next to where the phone had been. Her consciousness seemed to fade as she picked up the lace pink panties with her index finger, holding them out in front of her.  They were not new. In fact, they looked like they had been used recently⊠for as she peered down, past the pink band, she was met with a wet and sticky patch, right in the middle of the crotch.  Her mind was then thrown back to after her husband had left. The amount of embarrassment and jealousy as she watched her husband flirt with Sarah was almost unbearable, so as they had cleared up the table, she approached the younger woman with a question.  âSarah, I⊠Iâm sorry to have to ask you this but, uhâŠâ  Sarah finished washing off the dish, ringing her hands with the dishtowel from earlier as she turned off the sink. âAsk me what?â  The girlâs face was so honest, so caring and kind. Lily tried desperately to continue straight-faced.  âCould you⊠uh, that is⊠would you mind not dressing so attractively when you come over? I mean, I adore this skirt you have on, I justâŠâ
But the blonde was interrupted, with only six questioning words and a smirk. ââŠYou think Iâm attractive, Miss Rabe?â  Lily quickly stood and peered into the larger room. Sarah was sitting on the couch, little three-year-old Simon on her lap, watching TV. She felt something inside her, questioning and judging every new thought she was having about the other woman. And she felt scared. SO scared. Like when she was little and was afraid to go to sleep in the dark â the fear of feeling you can trust nothing because you canât fully see, not until everything becomes bright again.
 And so Lily felt she could trust nothing, in her mind or in her heart. ââŠYou think Iâm attractive, Miss Rabe?â The playful voice of the brunette echoed in her brain again and again and again. For thatâs what Lily trusted the least. Her attraction. Sure, she had felt attraction before. It was one of the main reasons why sheâd married Hamilton. But this⊠this was completely different. For Sarah was a woman, and that changed it all. Lily was utterly terrified at the idea of finding her attractive; and this woman in particular â her best friendâs girlfriend.  But although the insecurity and fear seemed too great to overcome, she walked right into the room to confront it.
 âYes. I doâ â She said, staring down at the brunette.  âSorry?â â The younger woman asked, looking away from the screen and back up at her â big brown eyes attentive.  âI do find you attractive. Youâre... youâre pretty, and smart, and extremely talented. I must confess I felt some sort of jealousy before and Iâm terribly sorry for my childish attitude early in the kitchen.âÂ
âIâm- I mean⊠Thank youâŠâ â Sarah smiled up at her gratefully, biting her bottom lip before adding, ââŠAnd just for the record, I find you absolutely gorgeous, Miss Rabe. You are truly beautiful, and I must say â Hamilton is a really lucky guy to have you.âÂ
Lily felt paralyzed by the brunette once again. But she was a strong woman now, no longer that scared little girl in the dark. âYou can call me Lily.â
