Little things for Jiyon... and Zel... and Lhyre

Before Jiyon was found to be Force sensitive he wasn’t nearly the little shit he is today, and was a pretty sweet and affectionate (if terribly spoiled) kid.  But he still had the same penchant for getting himself into trouble—and the fact that he was rewarded for this by making his Best Friend Ever when Tenson rescued him from almost getting eaten by a gundark only encouraged him to keep doing it.  HE IS INVINCIBLE AND ADVENTURES ARE FUN~

Zel doesn’t remember anything about her life before the laboratory, let alone anything from her childhood, but she was actually a captured Republic soldier who grew up on Balmorra (her name wasn't Zel, either; she made that up to replace the number she'd been assigned at the laboratory).  She used to gather junk from near the factories to build clubhouses and fortresses and spaceships in her backyard.

Lhyre was the girliest girly girl who secretly wished she could sew lace onto the hem of her padawan robes (and probably dye them pink and purple), and would put on tea parties for her dolls (or rocks and stuffed socks she pretended were dolls).

Ordhan:  What are they afraid of?

He’s afraid of becoming like his father and half-siblings in House Wyland, or worse.  He believes that each has the power to choose their own fate, but when you’re a dishonorable, shameful thing even in a dishonorable, shameful house (one of those that aided Ulgo’s coup in the most backstabbing ways possible), it’s hard to feel you can escape from it.  Most of his life has been spent trying to fight against what he feels is his nature by virtue of his birth, and every failure and every moment of moral doubt leaves him feeling like he’s sliding back into the murk and corruption.  He’s afraid that’s what he really is beneath the salutes and the polish of armor.

Lhyre: Do they have an idol or someone they look up to?

…Herself.  She has a variety of Jedi masters and philosophers of the past (and perhaps one or two of the present), and respects many of the more controversial teachings, but feels that few have made the connections and insights she has.  She likes to believe that it’s not a matter of pride; if others held views like hers it would be in secret, she knows, but is sure that if she learned another believed the same she’d hold them in as high esteem as she does herself.

Skeli:  How do they react to death?

For someone who makes a trade of killing, he doesn’t feel the reality of it as strongly as he could.  He’s young and smart and skilled, and death is all around him and blood is on his hands and he never quite manages to take it seriously.  He gets more upset about breaking the Chiss taboo about preemptive strikes than he is about the act of killing in itself, though he can be pretty softhearted and sentimental when not actually on a hit.

The fact that he survived an attempt on his life and an explosion that should have killed him only makes him think about it less; he hated how mortal he felt in those hours that dragged by before he was rescued, and is determined to never be so helpless again.  The louder he lives and the faster he plays, the more distracted he manages to be from the strong likelihood of a young death.

ahhhhh these are some good ones ;-;  here we go

Skeli:  Favorite indulgence/feelings surrounding indulging?

Skeli's real passion is music and the art; he doesn't find much satisfaction in his mercenary work at all, and is very much a "work to live" sort of person.  Because of this he tries to work in as many things to look forward to between his jobs as time, money, and reputation will allow.  His absolute favorite indulgence is going out to some higher-scale music event (Chiss opera being by far his favorite), though he's fine with just relaxing at home watching one of his symphony or opera vids for the twentieth time.

Lhyre:  Do they have any plans for the future?  Any contingency plans if things don't work out?

Nearly everything Lhyre does works towards some idealistic future that she's imagined for herself--a place where the Sith are eradicated, the Jedi order pure, and the Republic serving under the Jedi's guidance.  Because she's certain her views would be rejected now (and that she may never see them come to pass), she frequently records her thoughts and "teachings" in case the future brings about a galaxy more ready for change.  She's certain that this is inevitable, whether she lives to see it or not.

Fels: Concept of home and family

Fels was from a strict and not-overly-affectionate household, but family is still extremely important to him.  Each time he gets displaced, he tries to burrow into some sort of surrogate family as a means of coping.  First it was his squad when he was sent into Imperial space, and after his defection and their deaths, he latched onto Kohle's family.  As much as he tries to get used to being in the Republic, home will always be Csilla.

One of his biggest insecurities is the thought that his family would see him as a traitor for defecting to the Republic.

In the broadest sense, what shaped Lhyre's thinking? Why does she feel the need to take the Jedi Code to it's extreme?

Lhyre was raised in the Jedi academy from an extremely young age, and was one of those children and students who eat up every word they're given and think about them all the time and try to apply them in every way they can.  Part of this was due to being a loner that had a hard time connecting with people, and the best way she could get attention was to impress her instructors, but never was really satisfied with leaving off at the same conclusions everyone else did.

The thing that led her to take those ideas to their extremes was how there always seemed to be exceptions and differences between the Code itself and how the Jedi actually function in the Republic.  For example, when she hears "There is no death, there is the Force," she doesn't understand why saving a single life--especially one that's in the near vicinity--is treated as more honorable than preventing the deaths of dozens somewhere else.  

Her conclusion about things like this is that the Jedi order has compromised itself to be more palatable to the everyday citizen's idea of morality, choosing what people might be more comfortable with over what the true essence of the Force would be.

She finds a lot of self-worth and pride in privately philosophizing to herself, but it's also her way to explain why the world is the way it is and why there is so much strife and struggle in the universe.

The Wyland Legacy -- Jedi Covenant

“The Jedi have always kept their distance from politics.  We fight your battles and give you words of wisdom, but it has always been your choice to listen or not.  But this is why you suffer--and it is time to put an end to your suffering.”  The faintest smile touched her lips.  

She began to pace: long, slow strides, her coarse brown robes rasping over the stone behind her.  “Trust us,” she went on, pleading.  “You don’t know what is good for you.  The universe suffers; you sacrifice a thousand lives tomorrow for one life today, because you cannot see.  Only we can see.”  She spread her hands, hooded face upturned.  “We will see for you, and you will be safe.  Only then will you be safe.”

For a long moment she fell silent, then knelt and shut off the holorecorder.  It whirred quietly for a moment before a green light lit, and Lhyre carefully took the newly-recorded data disk from the device.  

It went with the rest.  One day the Republic would be ready to hear what she had to say, but she had no delusions about how the Jedi Council would receive her teachings.  Those blind to the Force would be even worse--frightened mice scurrying aimlessly to their deaths, too stupid and helpless to follow those wiser and stronger than them.  But healing always took time.  And pain.  There would be much pain.
