It's wild to me that I only understand this comic because I happen to know of the Welsh folklore about a magic horse skeleton that shows up to your house at Xmas and has a rap battle with you while trying to break into your house otherwise known as Mari Lwyd
One aspect that the wiki page doesn't talk about is that if the Mari Lwyd (or their hench people) are able to gain entry to your house during the song contest without the residents giving them permission first, they steal all the sweets (or treats) in the house instead of just having a snack and drink.
