Coffee, hiking plans, they needed to figure out how bad the weather was going to be and if they were going to cancel over it. Or maybe he was going to convince her to go camping with Nora and some of the other wolves. Either way, he was happy to have the company, walked alongside Lia as she gave away little tidbits of her day. His attention jumped around a bit as it tended to in crowds, the lunch rush of the city drawing people from work to pick up something locally. Heartbeats, bits and pieces of conversation, steps on the pavement, all of it filtered through with Lia’s words and he just sort of nodded along, enjoying the strange sensory overload of everyday life.
Eyes flickered from his companion to passerbys, his hands in his pockets, his elbow nudging against her side almost absently as they stopped at a crosswalk.
“Don’t you go forgetting about me.”
And then everything seemed to stop, his brow furrowed. He knew that voice all too well, it’s sweet rasp was a memory he was never going to be able to shake. But it was so real, too real to just be in his head, and he looked to the crowded street with unease, swore he saw a head of honey blonde hair and a flash of bright eyes. It wasn’t possible for his blood to go cold, it wasn’t possible for anything inside him to do much of anything, and yet he felt like everything had shut down just for a moment. @lcadelacruz
