I know we are not the closest of acquaintances, but I wish to meet with you in the kitchens, if you’ll be so inclined as to join me?
Liam? He was the head boy and a member of the ‘bed time patrol league’ (in charge of ensuring the 1st to 5th years weren’t sneaking out. Once you were past 6th year nobody really cared what you were doing. But she’d seen him around the common room sometimes…what could possibly want with her?
She stroked her owl’s feathers tenderly in thought, a pensive expression crossing her face as her eyebrows knit together in consideration.
But perhaps she could saunter down there, Liam seemed a decent guy so there really was no harm…
She tentatively approached the portrait of the fruit bowl, tickling the pear and she had to fight back a grin that threatened to tug at the corner of her lips at the squirming of the silly object.
“Liam?” She called out. The kitchens weren’t very big but he could’ve hidden behind towers of plates.
“Oh! Beatrice- or, is it ok if I call you Bee?”
“Bee is alright-.” She waved dismissively, trying to appear nonchalant but failing as per usual.
“What did you want to talk to me about.”
“Well it’s uhm- it’s less words…” he stepped out, purple icing sneered over his cheek. “I-…y’know- I heard it’s your birthday-.” (I know Bee isn’t until the 16th, I have a separate oneshot for that- I just figured, since everyone’s gifting you pics of Bee that it would make sense to treat it jointly???)
“Yeah so uhm- y’know- Cari, my sister, she talks about you a lot- you’re in the same Care of Magical Creatures class…so I just- I figured I’d put my baking skills to something good…”
It was a cake- a rustic kind, she was unable to tell the flavour just yet as it was slathered with decadent powder blue icing, a large sunflower decorating the middle with daisies adorning it periodically like a halo. Lavender decorated the edges of the cake, and he’d enchanted the bee designs to move around the surface of the cake.
“Liam you- you didn’t have to! I-.”
He cut her off with a careful hand on her shoulder. “Sebastian told me about your overthinking, I’m not a fan of Sallow but at least he cares for you. I struggle with the same thing, so I figured I’d help. And I figured you’d do what I’d do and waffle about how I shouldn’t have put so much effort in, correct?”
“Yeah…yeah correct.” She said quietly,
“Hey…” he nudged her shoe with the tip of his lightly.
“Chin up birthday girl.” He smiled, pinning a sunflower into the back of her braid crown.
“I’m not throwing a *big* party for you- just a very very small thing here in the kitchens. Sallow, Gaunt, Nattie, Poppy, me and anyone else you want to invite throughout the next…1 hour or so? Before the other guests make an appearance?” He smiled lazily, hair flopping to the side a little as he casually tilted his head, regarding her with curiosity.
