Intelligent but shy, Liam Palmer grew up in Manchester, England. Raised by a single mother, Liam was the eldest and was responsible for taking care of his younger brother and sister while his mother worked. When he was a teenager, he also got a part-time job to help the family financially, but this left him little time to do anything else. Needing social interaction, Liam turned to the Internet. In chat-rooms and gaming platforms, Liam was free to be himself and keep his anonymity.

Already good with technology, Liam was a near genius when it came to computer operations. On the Internet, he was a famous hacker, who was able to slip in and out of systems without leaving a trace, but outside the Internet he was a closeted homosexual who struggled to make real connections. He didn’t feel safe in his community to be himself out of fear of homophobic remarks.

In England, the Awakening involved a tea that stopped one’s heart, and Liam went through it as the Palmers had a long line of magical beings. When he was under, he saw exactly where he needed to be, but he also knew that he couldn’t go there without some sort of excuse. He was going to go to Mirror Lake, but he was going to go when he was ready.

He enrolled in University and eventually became a computer programmer. While he was in University he got enough money to set his mother up comfortably, and he made sure his siblings were set up comfortably too before he could leave.

Finally, he left to Mirror Lake where he finally intends to openly and completely be himself.
