Konnichiwa and congratulations to my dear friends Quruli on the release of their latest CD, ‘Thaw’’! A collection of previously unreleased recordings taken from across their 20 plus years career, this one has particular sentimental significance for me as it includes a song from the session where we first met, back in 2005. The tune in question, ‘Midnight Train (Has Gone)’ was recorded at Toe Rag Studios in London with producer Liam Watson at the helm. I was called in because their keyboard player couldn’t fly over from Japan in time. Lucky for me! Though the tune wasn’t released at the time (not sure why - it’s really good!) we became firm and fast friends from that day on, and I’ll be eternally grateful to @kishidashigeru and @sato_qrl not only for taking me with them on their epic tour of Japan in 2007, but for being the first people to actually release my music and support it in the way they did.
