How long have you been working on the WIP?

A pretty long while tbh, since the start of december. I've written 10k since then though which is. Pretty Neat. I am nowhere near finished with this au.

2. What tropes or fandom headcanons are you involving? Are you challenging any tropes or headcanons?

Uhhhhhh I am saying fuck you to the 'oh but he was still a villain all along' trope I hated that so much. But also really trying to steer from the common cstagedduo characterisation of them having a Healthy Relationship and being hopelessly romantic. Like. I headcanon punz as aromantic/apathetic to romance and dating as a whole but also... cdream is not capable of having proper, healthy relationships without major work. Fuck fanon cstagedduo let cpunz have a morality crisis and realise he really hates that guy fr.

10. Is your WIP an AU or canon-compliant? Either way, talk about any research you had to do, lore you had to make, or timelines you had to screw with to make it work. Talk about what makes your universe tick!

OHHHHHH OH OH THANK YOU I WILL GO INSANE NOW. OKOK. So basically it's a canon-compliant protege au, and originally it was gonna follow the normal timeline but I realise it was not long enough for end gamers to form that relationship. So basically it's set three years after exile, with chap 1 being between those years and ofc the finale at the end. So Tommy is about 18-19 in this, with punz being about like 24-25?? Anyways. Lore. Not gonna reveal too much but uhhhhhh I do love the admin lore i made so much, esp who can become admin cause currently the list is Tommy, Punz and Ranboo, potentially Phil too. Your guess as to the link <3 But also just. human species. Basically there's three species, linking back to ancestors that mixed with the original humans: Ancientborn, Builders and Players. Ancientborn are basically humans of Ancient descent, being able to wield magic extremely proficiently at the expense of soul decay, which basically corrupts the player over time of magic use. Builders are descendants of Architects, basically more attuned with the overworld and the natural world, whilst also being more proficient with building and designing mechanisms. Players are just stock standard humans, having a common link with villagers back to Traders, as well as keeping the original humans' battle proficiency and heightened perception. They like shinies, too, something that villagers don't share. Uhhhhhh also just how hybrids work, with different species being descendant of different human species+animal species, mainly being ancientborn descendants due to the whole magic thing.

5. How do you feel about posting chapters before the fic is finished (with this one and/or in general)?

Uhhhhh p good tbh this is really just a 'release as i go' sorta series, since i've got no set finish for it?? It's fun!! Just gotta stop myself spoiling shit.

9. How do you feel about this WIP? Is it frustrating? Fun? Strange?

SO FUCKING FUN. Sort of just real experimenting with formatting hours on this series, like I loved the fucking time format on chapter 2 so much, since I was having trouble with writing it and then... that fixed my trouble. currently one piece is in a script format so <3

11. Is this WIP inspired by anything/anyone?

Honestly I was just thinking real hard about how dirty done cpunz was. then i was like 'protege au ctommy and cpunz???' and then. the horrors began (i went to ren's discord dms and went insane)
