Artist Highlights #1 - Marian
Hi everyone! In the following weeks we'll be putting out posts about the artists that have contributed to the last two editions. We'll show what they have done and also ask them some questions about their art and their thoughts on the zine! If you've been featured in any of the past issues and would like to have a post like this don't doubt on contacting me about it. That said, here's our first artist highlight.
Marian (@liebredeaconito) is a digital artist and poet that has worked in both previous editions of Letters From Fairy Hill.
For Edition #1, they drew "Retrato de Mabel," "Retrato de Anna," "Apple Blossom," and "Hollow." She also wrote the poems "Them," "Bound," and one untitled, which you can read in pages 7 and 20 of our first issue.
For Edition #2, he drew "Luna," "Veratrine," "Look at me," and "Yours always, Juniper."
Who's your favorite Mabel character to draw/write about? What are your favorite motifs and recurrent imagery in the podcast? It would be Mabel I think. She has many facets and I just enjoy her vibe. I love the consuming motif, if that's one of 'em. Something about bringing what you love onside you or just wanting to be close to something so bad.
What have you liked about working on the zine? I like how everyone is always brainstorming and hyping the others up. It's really nice and I feel like when I blocked or something, I can rely on them.
What do you like about the zine as a reader? The themes! The composition, the love that's put into it!
You can find Marian's other work here.
Remember we're open to join until July 16th!
