Mystic Falls: Humanity Part I Ch. 20
Hello, my lovely readers. Time for a little look into Theo and Li's lives. Time for the countdown to end of Part I. Two chapters remain. On with the show...
Chapter 20: I'm Sorry Isn't Good Enough
Theo
Saturday. Saturdays were meant for relaxation. And anyone who ever meet Theo Gerard knew that his idea of relaxation included reading centuries old works, in French or Latin, gazing through his telescope, to contemplate the vastness of the galaxy, or studying physics. Today, Theo was indulging himself in the wacky world of the theories of alternate universes. At this very moment another Theo might be enjoying a lazy afternoon, with alternate universe Li-because alternate universe Theo knew how to keep his girl happy, unlike this world's Theo. He laid his head on his desk and groaned. What could he do to cause Li to like him again? Other than developing technology to ensure their ability to universe jump. No, a time machine! He could go back and prevent Jos from being taken. Then Li would not be depressed. And they could be happy, again...
"Theo!" Theo's head popped back up at the sound of his baby sister's voice. "Theo?" She must be in his doorway. Even his human ears could hear her fingernails drumming away at the wood. Soon, she appeared by his side. Theo pretended to focus on a page of his textbook while Temis leaned against his desk. She began to drum her midnight blue polished nails on his desktop.
The noise worked under Theo's already frayed nerve endings, until his hand darted out, and he clasped his hand over hers. "Temis, cut it out," he ordered her with as much patience as he had left. He could feel her fingers rising beneath his hand to begin anew.
Temis met Theo's eyes with a small smirk. Her free hand drifted behind her, to knock a copy of Gray's Anatomy to the floor. With a little hop, she landed on his desk, and folded her ankles, swinging her black platform boots to-and-fro, just like she did when they were small, and she was bored. This was usually followed by: "Theo, I'm bored, brother! Come play with me!" In many cases, Theo found himself wearing their mother's lipstick and a hat Temis stole from women at local churches.
Today, Artemis Gerard had something new to say: "Theo, you must get over Elizabeth Saltzman. She's just a girl. One of many. I should know. I am one!" She giggled and fluffed her curls, batting her eyelashes. "Come. Let us go out and find you a new playmate. Shall we?" Leaning down, she placed her head on his shoulder. "Please, brother!" She tugged at his ear. "I'm so very bored!"
Usually Theo would find Temis' whimsy charming, and more than a little infectious, but, today, he found her annoying. "No. I have work to do."
With a frown, Temis slid off the desk. Her hand went down and she swept his book out of his lap. "Temis!" Theo cried. He got to his feet as Temis' brows came together.
Temis looked at Theo before she tossed the book on his bed. "Alternate universes? Oh, Theo!" Throwing her arms around his neck, Temis rested her cheek against his shoulder. "What has this girl done to my confident big brother. You never concerned yourself with what some silly cheerleader thought before. She's nothing special."
Theo pulled Temis' arms off. "You don't know Li like I do." He moved to sit back down. "She's...like the sun. All I feel now is bitter cold, because she no longer shines her light on me."

Mystic Falls Bad Moon Rising: Ch. 15
Hello, my lovely readers. We're getting a little glimpse of life from Theo's view and we're getting a lot of Lieo. On with the show…
Chapter 15: Weakness
Theo
Mystic Falls' school system could stand some major improvements, but Theo Gerard had to admit that he felt like he could endure his new school better than his old ones. At least at his new school other kids did not ask him prying questions about his family, try to pick a fight with him—just to see what would happen—or run in fear, because Mom or Dad paid a special visit to them, in the middle of the night.
The school days moved slowly, and Theo usually felt relieved to get out. Today, he wasn't so sure about. Li sat atop the hood of his car, her long legs dangling, brown curls hanging around her face as she checked her phone with a weary look. "Hey!" Theo called to her.
Li's head popped up, and she waved at him. Her usually peppy smile looked about fifty watts lower than usual. "Hey, you," Li replied, slipping off his car hood, and depositing her phone into her tiny purse. He was not sure how she fit the phone in there, but did not feel like hearing her long, digressive exposition on the subject.
"How's Jos?" Theo asked, leaning against the hood of his car, adjusting the strap to his bag.
Shrugging, Li tucked her hair behind her ear. "Okay. I guess. It's not like she'd talk to me about it. Maybe I should ask Sandy," she muttered, rolling her eyes, and looking around the parking lot, her eyes flicking over the other students' clothes.
"You're worried about her?" Theo replied, watching Li's head drop, her eyes examining the tops of her high heels.
"Maybe. I guess," Li shook her head. "Can we go somewhere?" she asked him, shouldering her bag, and turning her hazel eyes on him.
Theo nodded. "Where do you want to go?" he asked her.
"I don't care. Just get me out of here." Li walked around the side of the car, and slid into the passenger seat. Theo moved to the driver's side. He did not try to talk to Li as he started the car and backed out of the slot. He knew by this point when to talk, when to shut up and allow the girl to breathe.
Unlike some of her friends, Theo had noticed that Li wasn't quite as dumb as she pretended to be. She was, in fact, pretty smart, if she gave herself a chance to acknowledge that fact.
Li laid her head against the passenger side window, gazing out, and into the sunshine. "Things used to be a lot simpler. For me. Back when Jos and Hope and I were stuck in the school. We didn't have to worry about whether someone would find out about our being supernatural beings. And I didn't have to worry about our family falling apart. Things were better. Maybe if we did the spell, again, things could go back to the way they were," she mused, playing with the bottom of a curl.
"Li, Jos just tried to mess with something she was not ready for, and we saw how that worked out. Maybe not messing around with magic would be a good idea," Theo advised. He glanced at Li, who frowned, sinking down in her seat and becoming quiet. "Sometimes you just have to allow things to play themselves out."
Turning to Theo, Li gave him a long look. "Do I look like a patient girl?" she demanded, glaring at him.
Grinning, Theo shook his head. "You're not exactly the kind of girl who sits around and waits for things to happen to you. But, if you wait, sometimes really good things happen."
"Ha!" Li's head moved to stare out the passenger side window again. "Sure. Lots of good things are going to happen to me and my family, if I just sit around and wait for it."
