Some more conceptualising for Starr Force / The Worst Bunch...
Overlord's species (inspired by the king cobra)
A naturally very short species (FOR A SNAKE.), not including the entire length of the tail. This means that they are at an immediate disadvantage next to threats that are larger than them, which is relatively common. (tend to range between 4 and 6 feet in height)
Prior to breeding with humans, I imagine they were very akin to anthropomorphic snakes, save for the very clearly alien features that would separate them from Earth's snakes (+ their human-like size, sentience, and intelligence).
Breeding with humans didn't remove their snake tails, which they have instead of legs, but did give them arms. This species' movement is naturally very silent, due to the lack of footsteps.
Post-breeding with humans, they lost the ability to "dislocate" their jaws, in favour of developing human-like sets of teeth, and the ability to chew their food. This opened up more opportunities for food among this species, giving them a higher likelihood of survival - though their fangs get in the way of chewing, so they naturally chew on a specific side of their mouth, which unfortunately means that dental problems are currently common within this species.
They did not develop humans' respiratory system, still breathing with their tongues.
Come with cobra hoods, which begin at the nose bridge and end at the cleavage. These hoods are scaled, unlike the humanoid flesh, and "discoloured" compared to the skin - this species often wear forms of hats, hoods, and cloaks to conceal this. Like an Earth cobra, the hood is opened as a threat - it makes them appear larger than they are, and therefore potentially more dangerous to the threat. If this does not deter them, however, the singular row of "teeth" that line the outside of the hood are connected to venom glands in the neck. When the hood is clamped down on prey (like a venus fly trap), venom is injected into them. Immunity and rate of effect can vary between species, and can also vary depending on the area of impact, but most species native to their planet aren't immune at all / have weak spots (think like how hedgehogs and armadillos have soft tummies, but armour. Weak spot but a defense mechanism) that can be utilised. Symptoms start with illness, then paralysis, then unconsciousness, then death. A very immune species may only experience the illness, a less immune species may only experience up to the paralysis.
Did not develop hair, but do have scales naturally in places that humans would typically have body hair (e.g. arms, back, chest, stomach). This means this species are NOT naturally warmed by any form of hair, and still require heat sources like Earth snakes do.
Gigantophis' species (inspired by the extinct Gigantophis Garstini)
A naturally very tall species. This means that they are at a strength advantage when it comes to smaller threats, but are significantly easier to spot prior to an attack. (Garstinis tend to range between 10 and 12 feet in height)
Prior to breeding with humans, this species did look significantly more snake-like, but they looked incredibly harmless and non-threatening, despite their size. This was a significant development in their evolution, where the Garstinis that didn't appear harmful were more likely to be able to catch prey, due to their unassuming appearance, than the ones that did - as their size could make it hard to ambush prey otherwise.
Breeding with humans made them appear incredibly human, which furthered their non-threatening appearance, and gave them a significant advantage on their planet - which actually led to the extinction of another intelligent species. They have audible footsteps now, due to having legs, especially as they are significantly larger than humans.
This species did NOT lose the ability to "dislocate" their jaw after breeding with humans, though did still develop human-like sets of teeth. Due to their snake jaw, they are unable to chew though, and must still swallow food whole - rendering the human teeth useless for much beyond being able to speak certain alien languages they otherwise wouldn't have been able to. Their fangs are "retractable" (not fully, but it means they become roughly the size of their other teeth), but they will reach the bottom of the mouth when unsheathed, so it is in the interest of Garstinis health to have the parallel bottom teeth removed.
This species DID develop humans' respiratory system, but they are more prone to respiratory conditions like asthma, due to a lack of evolutionary development in this part (it's still ongoing). They still have snake-like tongues, they just don't breathe with them anymore; though they can still be used to pick up fainter smells.
Garstinis are constrictors, meaning that they are insanely strong by default - often as strong as, or stronger than, a human who has trained for a long period of time (depending on family genes). Garstinis can become even stronger by training, similarly to humans. If one of these fuckers has visible muscles do NOT fight them.
This species DID gain hair! This means they have the heating and cooling regulation system of a human, though it's not uncommon to find a Garstini that still has some scales. Due to this, the Garstinis culturally have very long hair — in order to resembled the tails that they lost. It is believed that cutting your hair, or otherwise allowing your hair to become damaged, is a way of "killing" that past version of yourself, and is therefore seen as highly disrespectful. Garstinis with short hair are still accepted within their society, but are treated unfairly by the people around them.
(this species will also apply to Void Gray and Lieutenant Bonfils)
