They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, right?
Little bit of experimentation with this one (aka I can’t use my tablet so I did this with a mouse-)

I wanted to do an illustration for this but didn't get the chance, so:
The Ooze in LoTTMNT
In my iteration, the Ooze is… kinda going to be a one-time thing. There was a very limited amount and there isn't (currently) a way for it to be reproduced, so Splinter and the Turtles are the only mutants in my iteration. It's also imperfect. See, there's a big difference in the Turtle's mutation and Splinter's. First, the turtles didn't really start out as regular turtles- they were genetically modified to begin with, so their bodies processed the Ooze better and their mutations were streamlined. They were also really young. Splinter, though? He was a middle-aged, flea-and-disease ridden, rat. His mutation was a lot less perfect- he has chronic pain and is prone to zoning out.
But don't worry, there's fluff :]
Splinter doesn't always remember to take care of himself, prioritizing his sons first. However, they have gotten good at telling when Splinter is having a bad pain day, and they are nothing if not devious. Leo just 'happens' to make an extra cup of Splinter's favorite tea, Tello has added an 'upgrade' to the heated blanket and wants Splinter to test it out, Angelo's already started getting the most labor-intensive chores done, and Splinter just can't say no when Raph asks to watch some random show together :]
My Splinter design for LoTTMNT! I'm still working out his lore, but here's what I have so far: Before being mutated, Splinter was just a regular rat! As a result, this particular version isn't trained as a ninja- my version of the turtles learned that on their own, though Splinter did encourage it as a form of self-defense! He's generally a good father, though he became more distant as they aged and became able to do more things on their own- both because that's how a regular rat family would work and because he's trying to encourage their independent growth (he read that in a book somewhere). He also accidentally places too much pressure on Leo to watch over the brothers, and doesn't have enough faith in Tello's inventions.
@tmntzero Great question!
…it’s Leo. He manages to burn just about anything he tries to cook- yes, even the water. At least Tello does it on purpose…
(You didn’t ask, but: Splinter is actually the best cook in the family! He’s very methodical and good at following the directions in cookbooks, and is better at keeping an eye on the time.)
LoTTMNT Doodle Dump!
Might digitize some of these later, but here are some sketches I did!
I fear I have a favorite…
I was trying to practice drawing my Splinter from different angles (because his head shape is surprisingly difficult!) and had a fun idea with this particular sketch :]
abt lottmnt: i thought u said splinter put too much pressure on leo? But then he does well under the pressure? Was that a consistency thing, or intentional?
Good eye! It was mostly intentional, though I probably could’ve worded it differently to make it more clear :] The main difference is in the context. My Splinter is a bit like MM!Splinter in that he’s very distrustful of humans- and thus very worried about his sons when they go to the surface. This combined with the phenomenon I mentioned in Splinter’s info, where he’s trying to give his sons space, results in Splinter putting a lot more pressure on Leo- resulting in Leo feeling a little guilty if something goes wrong, because it’s hurting his father too. But pre-story, it was very mild- not big issue for any of them.
Things… escalate :)
