It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succor of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.
Gandalf in J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”
Just completed my seventh read of the Lord of the Rings. So rich, deep, adventuresome, historical, conclusive, and fraternal. An all-time favorite. Wanting to cling to this call in my life to devote myself to uproot the evil in the fields that I know. To doing good. To loving abundantly. To serving well. To making this world better as my King is committed to doing.
