You have seen my stories, read my blogs/posts. Hear my heart in why my passion exist three years later and our team continues to grow! What is the most common answer given when asked why do you want to work in emergency services? Because we want to help someone, because we want to make a difference, because I want to give back to my community. All noble answers, but at what cost? This job WILL change you, but how it affects you is up to you. What I experience is I would associate myself with the job more than my family. I would take on any shift someone needed me to cover because I wanted to help. I would take phone calls or emails off duty because I wanted to help. I'd, on my own time, help canine teams out because I wanted to help. This did nothing to help ensure I could help. My fitness and nutrition were horrible, I didn't see my family, and the sad part was... it didn't affect me like I thought it would. Then when I did struggle because I over invested myself, I didn't have the support or people around like I thought I would. This is why I'm here and Front-Line Fitness and Support exist. To be a voice, a tool, a resource, and a call to action for those who need to take care of themselves in order to help those they protect and serve.
