Sampling the Shuya River
As we observed in March, the Shuya River seemed to be bringing a lot of CO2 into Petrozavodsk Bay. We therefore sampled the river, using a small boat to reach the shore – a change in landscape and a little excursion off the EKOLOG boat. It was great to see it from a distance!
We really spent a wonderful time with our Russian colleagues during 8 days on this boat, especially in the common dining room ;-)
On the way back, we stopped for one night in St-Petersburg and saw the opening of the bridges that happens only two times a night (1:30 and 3:30 am).
A large crowd gathered to see the long boats passing the bridge, musicians were playing outside and the illuminated buildings with the colorful sky from the white nights were just amazing.
