To those who were wondering and asking where is this place, no I’m not in Bali, Indonesia, I’m in Bicol, Philippines where I was born, lived here for 22 years before I moved to Dubai. And what I’m looking at in this photo is the famous Mt. Mayon Volcano, the most active volcano in the entire Philippines, and yes my family still leave here, near Mayon. I grew up looking at this view, every day from the moment I left the house to school and home. I missed this view, wherever I go, still the best view ever. Welcome to Kawa-Kawa Nature Park!
Before I indulge your eyes with the beauties of the place, let me share with you some infos of this spot. Kawa-Kawa is located in Brgy. Tuburan, Ligao City. It is said that the name is derived from the shape resembling a "kawa" or cauldron. Afar it may seem ordinary like any other hill, but from its peak, you can see its unique shape. It is also called "the hill without a hilltop".

Since we’re from the city proper of Tabaco, we took a ride in a jeepney to the city proper of Ligao for Php 40 which took us more or less 1 hour getting there. Since we left around 10:30, we arrived past 11.

From the church, we ride on a tricyle to Brgy. Tuburan, to the foot of the hill.

The Stations of the Cross. The hill is also known as a religious destination for its the larger than life statues lining the path to the crater and all the way around the crater's rim. During the Lenten Season, devotees flock to Kawa-Kawa to reflect and meditate on the Stations of the Cross as their penance.

Feature: Las Antiguas Iglesias de Ligao
It was also last March when our group went to Ligao to document the church for our project. If you would notice, I already did made a post about the church when we first went there but we had few pictures. I will be making a feature now with more pictures.
THE ST. STEPHEN THE PROTOMARTYR PARISH CHURCH
This church is one of the tourist attractions and pilgrim destination in Ligao CIty. It is located at the urban center and is accessible in by all means of transportation. It’s history can be traced back to 16th century.
Feature: Las Antiguas Casas de Ligao
Ligao City in Albay is among those cities in Bicol that has ancestral houses still preserved and standing still. Last March, I get to visit three of them. I was with my groupmates for our group project for Print Ad. We were able to document three ancestral houses namely, Jaucian, Pigon and Alsua Ancestral House.
JAUCIAN ANCESTRAL HOUSE
The Jaucian Ancestral House is located at Calzada, Ligao City. It is said to be the oldest ancestral house in the area owned by the Jaucians that existed since the 19th Century and was built in Spanish style. Despite the numerous calamities, the house remains standing projecting a reminisce of the early colonizer’s influence in Ligao. The remarkable strength of the house was tested for over 300 years now and has witnessed the historical journey of Ligao City from the time of the Spanish regime. The house was said to be originally owned by Belbino Jaucian. The Jaucians are said to be one of the riches families in Bicol.

THE PIGON ANCESTRAL HOUSE
The Pigon Ancestral House is also located along the Calzada just a few meters from the Jaucian Ancestral House. The house was well maintained and is currently occupied by Grata Fuentebella-Pigon, the daughter of Natividad Fuentebella-Pigon.
This house is said to be built during the Japanese period and was originally owned by Cilidona Canale-Pigon and Teotimo Quintano Pigon. Their son Buenaventura Teotimo C. Pigon married Natividad Fuentebella.
The house was well preserved.

THE ALSUA ANCESTRAL HOUSE
Another ancestral house that can be found along Calzada was the Azula Ancestral House. This house was said to be built during Spanish Period.
At present, the first floor of the house is said to be the office of the Personnel while the second floor is the servant’s quarters.

The house was said to be owned by Cleotelde Samson Alsua.
The house was later inherited by Ramon Alsua and Tess Crespo-Alsua. Their son Ariel Alsua was married to the mayor of Ligao.
