Warmachine/Hordes is a pretty special game to me, and it&;s one of the few games where I could play any of its factions, as I can build a cool subtheme around each of them (although I have some clear preferences of course).
Each journeyman at my LGS is therefore the opportunity to try my hand at another army, and this time I chose Cygnar ! … And most specifically, the Trenchers. Reading the background and seeing the new units released recently pushed me over the edge, and it decided me to build a small force of the toughest soldiers from the Swan nation. What you see here is the Battlegroup I used in the JML : the Warcaster Brisbane2 and his turret, Defender Heavy Warjack, Cyclone Heavy Warjack, Grenadier Light Warjack. The rules from our local JML were tweaked to have more freedom in the builds, and I chose the jacks most commonly found fighting in the trenches, with their most iconic Warcaster. I’m really happy with the color scheme, red, white and silver. At first I was leaning toward a French “Poilu” from WWI or the Confederate side of US civil war, but it was too grey… Being my last JML in this country before I head back to France, I finally chose a scheme to honor my time in Atlanta, the Georgia Bulldogs football team colors ! Which also happens to be the color code of my favorite LGS, Giga-Bites café :) Plus, if you look in this tumblr (#Cygnar), you should find a try at a similar scheme, red and gold, that I did one year ago for a friend of mine who wanted me to paint his Kraye… I had been impressed with the results of a red Cygnar, so I knew it would look great, and a nice twist to the original studio palette ! The Cygnaran blue is only hinted in the electric parts of engines and bullets for the weapons. I’m proud to say that I got second place at the painting contest, amongst really beautiful works ! If they ever read this Tumblr, congrats to the other painters and organizers of the event !
