hey there self!
you did pretty damn good today.
you did not walk to penn station for lunch and free lemonade, but that is okay. you ate salami cream cheese rollups and half a peach, which is YUMMY. they didn’t even email you about that free lemonade, you had to find out about it in an AD. they never deserved your money. also, you saved the awfulness of walking that far in the summer heat, and you had a late breakfast, and since you were home for lunch, when mom called you to facetime with dot, you could share that joy with katie and todd. EVERYBODY WINS. except penn station, who can suck it.
but you did ALL THE OTHER THINGS. and completed ALL OF THE STEPS and DID NOT CRY even when talking about hard things
bangers and mash for dinner? DELICIOUS. you liked it, emma liked it, katie liked it, todd will totally like it when he eats the leftovers for lunch tomorrow (and if he doesn’t, YOU WILL.) let’s call this experiment a success. (next time: sausage with apples in, and maybe caramelize some apples with the onions and cider in the gravy. YUM)
peach cobbler for dessert? ALSO DELICIOUS. it was bafflingly runny, but whatever. it was peachy and cobblery, and there’s plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. maybe you’ll even eat some for breakfast.
AND DO NOT FORGET you had a SWELL TIME with emma! she helped with the cooking and also the cleanup so katie could quilt, and then you talked lots about adulting is hard and leaving a formerly beloved fandom is sad and also sunburns and market day chicken and languages and fic and other things you cannot remember the specifics of. you ENJOY HER FRIENDSHIP.
katie was disappointed by the dishes in the sink when she got home from work. you unloaded the dishwasher, and tried to reload it, but you could not handle touching the dirty ones. IN FUTURE: maybe try to move the dishes through sooner, so they do not have time to build up repulsiveness? or talk to katie about what your issue with touching the dirty dishes is, and what her expectations are, and find something you can both live with. LIKE A GROWNUP
(and let’s not talk about hydration. at all. ever again.)
but BANGERS AND MASH and PEACH COBBLER and EMMA and NO CRYING and SUCCESSFUL SHOWERING
today was a GOOD DAY
