“With this sword I swear to protect the people of Terca Lumireis and throw Yuri in jail if he misbehaves!
So I managed to finish this. It had been sitting in my folder for a looong time, and I decided that I would finish it a couple of days ago.
It was not easy.
But I really like how it turned out, so I watermarked it. A couple of people I know on a few other sites have been getting art stolen so...even though I don’t believe my art is good enough to steal...
This picture is from a roleplay called Sweet Seas that I have with lightdragon-destruction
lightdragon-destruction:
"Hey yourself. It’s been a while since we’ve been free at the same time, hasn’t it?"
"Such is the life that we adults have." she sighed.
For once, Flynn was looking forward to leaving work. He’d had plans with Erika to spend the evening together, and while he still had to force himself to put his work away at the end of the day he was more cheerful than usual about it. A smile was on his face the entire way home.
Then everything went to hell.
Erika wasn’t breathing when he entered the house, sprawled out on the floor with limbs in unnatural positions, and through his panic Flynn thought he also saw blood pooling on the floor around her. “Erika!” he cried out as he rushed to her side, falling to his knees and supporting her as he immediately cast a First Aid.
He didn’t know what had happened; for the moment, there was no way of being sure. But he did know that if he didn’t get her to a hospital fast, all the First Aids in the world wouldn’t help her. Scooping the smaller redhead up in his arms, Flynn took off for the healer’s as fast as he could manage.
Erika was still not used to being around someone for such a long time. It had almost been a year since the two of them had met, and they had come very far in that amount of time. It was often that Erika could be found at Flynn’s home, cooking for him because…well, everyone knew he could not cook for himself.
She was happy. For the first time in a long time, she was happy. Not the kind of happy that stemmed from her job in bringing small joy to others…no this was a different kind of happy. One that she hadn’t felt since she was very little.
She had almost forgotten about the one thing that plagued her. Like the curse it was, today was the day it decided to grab hold of her, litterally.
She’d done her best to ignore it, to pretend that it wasn’t there…but it had done little good as the claws that only she could see dug into her skin, shoulders and back, reopening a long past scar that had been on her back and leaving her gravely injured on the floor of the little kitchen.
She wasn’t even aware when Flynn scooped her up into his arms, completely unresponsive even as the First Aid sank it’s healing light into her. It did very little.
To say that the healer was surprised was an understatement, and set to work immediately, calling in various others to help. Shooing the Commandant out of the room, they went to work,
It was a while before the healer returned to let Flynn know of Erika’s condition.
"She’s…stable." the woman muttered, heaving a sigh. "But from the marks that she bore, it looked as if a beast had grabbed hold of her. Was she in the middle of a battle?"

"Is there someone in this place?"
Flynn found himself shaking his head instinctively, though he realized she wouldn’t be able to see the motion. “No,” he said softly, moving from the doorway to a chair beside Erika’s bed, hesitating as he took a seat before reaching out to gently take one of her hands in his. “There is nothing for you to apologize for. This isn’t your fault at all, Erika. Please don’t blame yourself.” He stayed like that silently for a few moments, thumb rubbing comforting circles on the back of the redhead’s hand. He wasn’t sure what to do; his first instinct was to immediately ask her to move in with him, so he could take care of her, but would that be the best thing to do in this situation? He didn’t want to make her feel worse after all that she had already been though by treating her as just a fragile thing that needed protection… Regardless, he couldn’t forgive himself if he didn’t ask. “Would you like to stay with me for a while?” he spoke quietly after a few moments, squeezing her hand lightly as he did so. “It wouldn’t have to be permanent. I… I would just like to be there for you while you’re recovering.”
The sudden touch made her flinch, moving to draw her hand away from whatever it was that had taken hold of it. But upon realizing that it was just Flynn, she tried her best to calm down. It wasn't working very well, but...at least she could say she was trying.
Every noise, every word seemed to make her flinch, to shy away, almost as if she had been burned or scaleded. She would flinch at the weirdest times too, when no sound was present...at least to Flynn. She was trying so hard, but she couldn't stop shivering.
"Would you like to stay with me for a while?" The question hung in the air, and she let out a shakey breath after being startled by the sound, and the words. She was already opening her mouth to refuse, to say no that it was too much of a burden on him.....
But she stopped mid breath to the first word, closing her mouth to a thin line. She knew there was no way she would be able to function on her own. Not like this. The stairs alone in her little home would probably kill her, if the insanity didn't first. She knew it, and she was fairly certain Flynn knew it too.
There was only one answer to that question...
"I......." she started to say, still wanting...begging herself to be able to say no....but she couldn't. "I....I don't....really....really have a ch-choice...." she muttered finally, voice terribly soft.
