This doesn't exactly fit into the whole CGI thing, but did it look painfully obvious that they did something to Ian Holm's face at the beginning of the movie? It made him look a lot younger than he looked in the Fellowship and also really, well, plastic?
I know EXACTLY what you mean. I think they definitely did something at least make-up wise to his face to make him look younger which made him look off. But to be honest I also felt that Frodo looked a bit off/plasticy as well while watching it. The film looked so so much more crisp and clear (even when I watched it in 24 fps) than LOTR to me so I think that might have had something to do with it too.
