Bank. How do we choose? . Bank is a play on the conventional piggy bank, complete with coin slot and cork stopper but the belly is exposed, ribs and all, and thus renders the act of saving as a conundrum. What are we saving for later? . So many things went wrong with this guy after it was sitting on the shelf waiting to be bisque-fired. I came back the next morning and his arm had broken off, not sure if it was a construction issue or if someone had tried to lift him. Even after the fixes and glaze, I had to pry him off his cookie which required breaking his leg and ear/antennae. The coin slot works but doesn’t accept quarters, and the ramp I was trying to build inside doesn’t actually work the way I wanted. The luster got messy and made his eye and back zombie-like which doesn’t help that he’s “resting/dead” but c’est la vie. You live and learn and hope it’ll all make sense eventually. . Twins. When two becomes one what’s left to be done? . Two vessels make up this piece, soft touches that asks the viewer who moved first? A hand on the knee, another on the shoulder, feet intertwined with gentle familiarity. The heart weighs heavy with no solution but comfort through acceptance. . When I first had this idea I thought it would be poetic for the areas where they were touching be the only areas where they were joined. Turns out that makes for terrible construction. If you were to lift the two and twist one just any degree opposite than the other, in a bone-dry state, they will break and break it did. I’m glad it wasn’t worse than it was and I’m not sure why I had to stress myself out like that because all I wanted was them to come out solid together and yet the gentleness of their connection begged to be tested. Hierophant. We tickle the riddle for whom? . The hierophant is traditionally defined as the interpreter of sacred mystery. Who is the one that spins the tale, that asks and answers the question with rhyme? Light pours out of the vessel’s mouth, illuminating words as waves. . Those who have had a profound impact on me were those who could see the poetry in their lives and share with others how their past connected the dots to their life’s decisions to pursue their evolving unknown and thus great adventure. It’s never epic in the way we think, but rather a “long walk in the park.” I’m grateful to have met so many teachers who remind me there’s always so much to learn and that making peace with the past can open more futures. Who would’ve thought going back was going forwards?

Release . Is to live simply to suffer well? . . Release utilizes the eyes of the vessel as a source of light and emanation.
