this is about to get so super long & sappy so please prepare yourself & i apologize in advance for whoever’s dash this clogs up -- but today is a true cause for celebration, so here goes nothing, i guess !!
it truly amazes me how fast time has flown by. it seems like just yesterday you were this sixteen year old, sassy af individual, who i somehow had the good fortune of befriending. we’ve been through our ups & downs over the last five years, but i can say with overwhelming pride that you have been one of the true constants through this period of my life. we’ve had times where we’ve been distanced & times where we talk every second of every day -- & right now i think we’ve made it to a place that we’re both really really happy with. i would not trade my friendship with you for anything in the entire world. that’s how much you mean to me.
i am so incredibly proud of the person that you’ve become & i don’t think i say that enough. watching you overcome hardships & find a place of true contentment is just -- it’s everything i could ever want for you. a little while back you said to me that you were truly happy with how things in your life were going right now & while it’s still not without its hurdles, i want you to be able to hold on to that good feeling, because if anyone deserves it, it’s you. honestly, before you came into my life i was -- very wary with online friendships. i trusted people too soon & i got hurt in the process, but you’ve shown me that it’s really possible to have a strong friendship with someone, even through a computer screen, even if there’s miles upon miles & country borders between them.
we’ve seen each other through personal lows & highs -- been by each other’s side through so much of it & i wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. you’re someone who’s already been in my life for such a long time & i only see that continuing on. i remember having to calm you down on the eve of your seventeenth birthday because you were scared of getting older -- & now, g o d, just know that there’s nothing to ever be scared of. your future is what you make of it & already you are doing such incredible things & i know you’ll only continue down this path. today, on your birthday i wish for you nothing but success & happiness & everything in between.
