Help! Tips on going from a heavyweight to a lightweight rower?

Hello rowing friends, I need your help.

So i recently started school at my dream university, which also thankfully has a great rowing program; a lightweight program.

After training camp, I was told because I am a small heavyweight (5′5″ and 153 pounds) and only at a 7:43 2k, that it would be in my best interest to make lightweight for spring season.

Only problem is, I haven't been lightweight since my novice year when I had literally no muscle mass.

 I was just wondering, other than the obvious cutting calories and more cardio, if there was any other tips that you guys could help me out with?
