Ole Juul was a Norwegian painter of the north - August 5, 1852 - 1927… He trained in Bergen, where he also became a photographer by trade. Later he studied art in Düsseldorf, but never became well known back in Norway.
Only late in his life, some success came to him due to an exhibition in Oslo at Blomqvists Kunsthandel in 1922. Most thought he was dead by then, but he was ‘re-discovered’ living in Ørland where he painted the light and the sea on a daily basis - much like a Norwegian Turner…
