@weirdzootopiaframes Now I’m curious, what’s your issue with Mr Big?
it’s not like, an issue issue, just something i would’ve done differently
one of the things that’s notable about zootopia is how finely they crafted the titular city. you can tell there’s a lot of history behind figures like lionheart and bogo and bellwether, to the point it really does feel like a fully-realized city-
and then you meet the powerful and infamous criminal essentially running the city’s underworld-
and it’s marlon brando. for a couple minutes we do a parody of a 1972 film, which even the kids in the audience will understand because it is one of the most parodied films ever made
don’t get me wrong, it’s funny the first time. (and that’s disney’s prerogative, as getting a huge number of people to come once is more financially desirable than getting a smaller number to frequently return.) but it reminds me i’m watching a disney film created by committee to have jokes in it, which is something i can very easily forget while watching zootopia.
so yeah. i would’ve cut the admittedly funny joke for the sake of worldbuilding, because that’s the kind of nitpicky standard i hold my own writing to
