I re-reading HBP and its funnier to me now more than ever how half of the fandom lacks brain cells. No way in hell was Harry mid or an average looking dude, there were like throngs of girls chasing him around even into quidditch trials which they had no business in whatsoever 🤣

yes, harry definitely isn’t just average. there’s more than enough evidence that contradicts it, especially when we see girls going into fits of giggles being in his presence and trying to figure out the best way to slip him a love potion.

one of the main arguments that i’ve seen in calling harry average-looking is that most of these instances can be chalked up due to his status and fame. and while i don’t disregard that some of it did contribute, i don’t think it’s a solid or fair explanation. i mean, hermione calling him interesting would’ve been enough for harry to understand why he was getting all of this attention, but no she also points out that he’s never been more hot.
if harry was average, I don’t think she’d have bothered including how hot he was. 😭
also the attention beforehand that he got due to his fame or rumours was always “gossiping”…this is girls literally huddling under mistletoe to kiss him. i think HBP was clearly written differently as to how his status/fame was usually handled. because as hermione rightly said, he’s never been more fanciable.
