Alex as a ranger? Alex probably as a Ranger--either Human or Half-Elf, if she's feeling like it. Winn i feel like might end up rolling a Bard--perhaps a Dwarf Bard?
Alex as a Half-Elf Ranger is perfect. Despite Kara’s instance, she goes with the Hunter archetype, but, she starts the campaign with a pseudodragon familiar from her background.
Winn with a Dwarf Bard. He’s a mountain dwarf, and joins the College of Valor. He sings every chance he can.

James on the other hand plays a half-orc (chaotic good) barbarian protector figure for the same reasons he's styled himself Guardian
I like James as a Half-Orc, especially since I’m now thinking that he and Lucy create their characters together, and have them be twins. But, James as a Champion Fighter with the protection and defense fighting styles. He fucking tanks all day, every day.
