The 12 minute work grind
Best part about Summers homeschooling is that I don’t have to leave my baby anymore. ♥️

Like a lady. I was going to write, "isn't it funny how we are taught norms and ways of being..." Sometimes I think it's funny as in the sarcastic ha-ha, the ha-ha that has a space between the ha. Like that awkward, ha. Or maybe it's uncomfortable ha. Or the painful ha. It's the constant reminder that I, as a woman and as a young girl, should remain small, dutiful and quiet. The times I worked in male-dominated industries and the countless times I'd be told to hand over a phone to a man. As if a woman couldn't possibly tell a man no on a proposal or business contract. Don't take up space, or sit wide-legged or say too much, because you don't matter, be small enough so you may disappear. I remember feeling so small, ashamed, often gripped by anger working cocktail gigs where men would grope my ass or hurl their slurs and disgust. The manager of the bar would glare at me from across the room, that look of, "you better play the role, serve them well and earn those tips." What would I know then, at 19, 20, and 21? I learned that my body is always up for being defiled, that I earned more money if I "just took it." I learned that it's better to give in than to say no. I wonder how many no's I have hushed or never choked out just to get it over with. I never learned how to fully respect my body. So long as I didn't get pregnant, that was the most respectful thing I thought to do then. Maybe respect comes with age. Or the practice of moving my body with breath. Or maybe that I'm a mother now. I don't know, exactly. I am still learning and uncovering. I do know that I write to my teen and 20-something self to say this: you will love, respect, and take great care of yourself. You won't host anger in your heart, you'll soften as you strengthen. You will know the love of a man that desires more than your body. You will know how to mother yourself when you mother your son. You will know love for yourself. You will be loving and brave and vulnerable. You will not hold yourself down, but build yourself up. You will and you do. I love you. #likealady #lovealltheway #writeyourheartout
Wren's allergic to grass so I bought her some socks, I think she's feeling fancy.
Handmade gemstone jewelry doesn’t get more elegant than this.
