             months had worn them both down; the world had lost just a flicker of its color to fugo -- overcast weather had blocked the glittering of sunlight on the ocean that bordered the city for days now. he hadn’t had a chance to really sit and talk with any of them -- he’d been too busy proving himself. proving himself to the new passione, the gang he’d never betrayed and yet still felt like the only traitor standing. but it’s hard to avoid forever -- and they’re sitting next to each other, staring over the water where waves are just as grey as the sky and they crash hard into the rocks. just like in venice -- just like those stairs that he’d stranded himself on. 

               the apology falls from his lips first, and they hit the crashing of the waves and are met with silence. a quiet from narancia that fugo can’t quite read. and those words hit him with a calming understanding he never expected from the other boy -- he never expected to be forgiven so easily for what he’d chosen. and there’s a warmth and a weight on his hand, looking down to see their fingers entwining. it distracts him from where tears start to form and wet his cheeks. 

                ‘ -- i still love you, narancia. i always will. ’

             red eyes widen, turning to look over at narancia who’s words caught him quite by surprise. they’d been sitting in relative silence, a soft hum of music playing from the cd player by narancia’s bed as fugo opted to read a book he’d been engrossed in. he hadn’t noticed the way the sun was beginning to set out the window, glistening off the water in a sparkling display and filtering through the open window. cheeks betray him as they flush, heart daring to pound just a little harder in his chest -- and he lifts the book to cover his mouth and nose, arching a brow where eyes were still visible from behind his makeshift mask.
