i just wanted to say that i love your blog and i especially appreciated the post about jane. i can't believe people in the fandom blame her entirely for jesse's actions. also i'm not sure if jane is completely to blame for her relapse either since her rehab situation was fucked up (her stressful relationship with her dad) so it's not like her environment was very nurturing or encouraging. i've heard that people don't ever stop being addicts, they just learn to stop their behavior.
There are lots of very very cool people in the fandom, but I have read some pretty unfairly scathing posts about Jane (as well as other characters) both on here and elsewhere (reddit in particular), and it just kind of surprised me at first. :/
Addictions are extremely hard to deal with, to say the least. I am personally not an addict, but I've had to study it extensively in school thus far, and it really can be quite debilitating for most people. Like many things especially involving mental health, addictions (and relapses, etc.) definitely aren't the result of just one factor/event/whatever. With Jane, surely she can take some responsibility, but there's also the influence of Jesse, there's the strained and difficult relationship with her father, and likely a whole bunch of other things that we don't know that ultimately caused her to relapse (as well as to begin using drugs in the first place).
Thank you for the great message! :D
