Over the past 20 years I’ve listened to 1000s of Rap albums and without question from top to bottom for my money M.O.P. - Warriorz is the classic and some of the most underrated work in the history of the Hip-Hop. Warriorz is a Lyrical UFC Fight that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of M.O.P. of who (and what) is as they almost morph into the production and became instruments of chaos on the battlefield that is Warriorz. @billdanzemop and @famem.o.p craft ultra grimy, slap the shit out you Barz full of Old Brooklyn aesthetic and high level lyricism over form fitting beats from @djpremier @therealdrperiod @lazeelliott @nottzdaruler, Fizzy Womack himself and others. Of course the album features the certified Hip-Hop classics Anti Up, its remix and Cold as Ice but it’s the deep album cuts that make Warriorz so special. Tracks like “G-Building”, Calm Down” , “Follow Instructions” and Roll Call” absolutely make the album. But it’s “Face Off” that shows the brilliance of Billy and Fame. They each destroy their respective beat of the Preemo track. Billy slow flowed a sermon to the Street Gods while Fame Boom Bapped his way over the best change and in the process indirectly named this every podcast moment. “I been doin this pa, I done stuffed Tissue in the Top of The Tape just to record Marley Marl” With all the high level 🔥 that is Warriorz there are only two things that kept it from being perfect. Coming in at 20 tracks I would have made it no more than 16 and arrangement while I’ve grown accustomed to it I don’t understand the track placement. After welcome to Brownsville you have to have Roll Call into Follow Instructions! My small gripes aside Warriorz has stood the test of time and is a certified Hip-Hop classic that continues to goes hard as hell.
