Interesting Youtube piece on Lilith
This collection of information is fairly complete, though of course it sticks very close to conventional (patriarchal) readings of the Lilith mythos. Some interesting details:
There’s almost no real association between Lilith the sexual temptress and rebel woman, and Lilith the murderer of children, in the stories about her. She’s either one or the other, never both, and the stories where she is a child murderer seem to come from a different, newer set of myths.
The association between the Babylonian Lilith and the Hebrew Lilith is more tenuous than originally thought. This may be an adoption and warping of an older mythology, similar to the way that figures such as Baal ended up demonized.
The fact that one of the wards against Lilith grants her a divorce from Adam.
“Even God cannot subjugate Lilith”. This presumes that Lilith, instead of being aided by God, stole enough of his power that he can’t dominate her.
The concept of Lilith as being the female counterpart to Samael, and the mate of Asmodeus. That and Lilith/Samael being the spirit world counterpart to Adam/Eve.
