I know it’s probably just her fur patterns making her appear to have no neck in this picture, but Deebs reminds me very much of Lady Button from the BBC version of Ghosts here

Dearborn does have a neck, but honestly prefers to pretend she doesn’t whenever possible. 

She loves to sit with her head pulled all the way back in like some kind of weird tortie turtle. :D 

I think also the fact that she has a black stripe over a white spot on just one half of her mouth makes it look like she’s forever pursing her lips in faint disapproval. I’ve never seen a cat that looked so much like she takes a dim view of you and everything you stand for. :D

You two are amazing! Do either of you use magnifying lights when stitching? I’m looking into getting one to make things easier on my eyes, but there are so many options—true color bulbs, replaceable bulbs, clamp on, table based, etc—that I’m not sure where to even start looking to invest in a good light. Thanks!

Thank you! We do not use magnifying lights so we cannot really help here, but Prism is inclined to think that something with led lights would be the most lightweight, be fairly long lasting, and coolest to work with for longer periods of time (temperature wise). However we’re going to throw this one to the void for practical suggestions.

So... I’m very much not really a writer so I have a CR WIPs document I haven’t touched since November with everything scrambled together and I have no idea what the most recent line I’d written was, so enjoy several different “last lines” from different things I have (tbh this was a fun exercise for me to reflect on stuff I haven’t looked at in months so thx)

Caleb scoffed, and four globules of light flared right in the eyes of four of the mages, making them all flinch.

Flirty Caleb is dangerous. 

That last one is thrown in there 100% as me cheating so I only have to tag 4 people but hey I did write that and it is at the end of a thing. ;) ;) ;) (also yes, I openly admit to being heavily Caleb-biased in my fic-related thoughts 👀)

SO TRUE. I don’t mind characters being at odds if the reunion/making-up is worth it, because I’m also a sucker for angst, but I really wish more shows would give the characters more opportunities to have each other’s backs and less of the “they’re back together, no wait, they’re fighting again” roulette.

“That leaves us here,” she said to the slice of pie. “And you are letting me down terribly.” She swallowed and felt her throat tighten. “Oh, lovely. Yes, let’s cry now.” She let her fork clatter to the counter and leaned on her elbows, covering her eyes. “Because I am a grown woman, and grown women cry when they can’t have their way.” Cry and hang up the phone.

Aww, I loved writing that bit, and it came so easily. I got started thinking about Peggy choosing that slice of pie in the automat (and I have a bit of a childlike fascination with the little self-serve doors, same thing with vending machines that have actual food in them and the old machine in France that dispensed tiny cups of hot chocolate), and I went with her tendency to comment aloud on situations.

But this is also the first time that she and Daniel have faced conflict, and after seeing it happen from his POV, here’s the first glimpse of hers. So this was really my exploration of how she approaches her own emotions. I think Peggy is a beautiful blend of stifled and self-aware, so this moment is more or less a struggle in self-management. After cooling off, she’s acknowledged to herself where she was in the wrong and wants those facts to put a logical end to the matter, but at the same time she still feels so upset. And that’s not pleasant, those feelings. Can’t we just do away with them.

Umbrella Academy: where do you see it going vs where do you want it to go?

Okay, this is going to contain spoilers for the ending of season 1.

I’ve seen a bunch of speculation in the fandom (speculation, nothing; a lot of people are just assuming that it’s going to be this way) that they’ll be de-aged for a significant part of next season, and my reaction to that is a giant NOPE NOPE NOPE DNWWWW. The kid actors do a good job with the flashback versions of the characters, but it’s the main actors who carry the show. I’m tuning in to see more of them! 

Honestly, though, I don’t know how likely that actually is. My real fear for season 2, based on how season 1 went, is that it’ll involve too much of the characters at odds and not enough coming together as a family. What I’m most of all hoping for is a lot of family feels, and I’m worried that there’ll be more of the kind of thing like the others betraying Vanya or the “undone” day in season 1, where a lot of the warm fuzzy stuff got erased by changes to the timeline. I expect the characters will spend a lot of the season at odds for drama, but what I really want is all of them working together as a family to defeat whatever the season’s Big Bad is.
