Days 29 - 30, Pemberton, BC to Clinton, BC (via Sea to Sky Highway) - (1) province (BC), 127 miles, 6 hrs. (with scenic stops, steep ascents and descents, and switch backs)
A beautiful drive although somewhat stressful. A steep climb from just outside Pemberton, BC for several miles. At the other end, a steep descent for a few miles just before Lillooet, BC. Other than those two stress areas, the road is good and scenery is magnificent - high snow-capped mountains, deep blue and green mountain lakes with surfaces as smooth as glass and a roaring mountain stream. Just before Lillooet, BC, the scenery changes to steep, rugged canyons and then the landscape turns arid and brown with large rolling hills. As we reach the Cariboo Highway (97) and head to our stop in Clinton, BC the green evergreens and cooler temperatures re-appear - this is south central British Columbia.
Clinton Pines RV Park & Campground is a very nice facility - electric (30A), water and sewer. Our site (#10) sat on a hill overlooking the rest of the campground and beyond that the rolling wooded mountains of the Lillooet Range. We met a number of very nice folks around the campground, most notably the owners who were super nice and extremely helpful with all of our needs - we were really impressed with their hospitality!
A truck issue caused us to stay an extra day here (we will make an adjustment to the future plan to get us back on track).
With the extra day, we visited a nearby Provincial Park - Edge Hills. It was stunning with 7000' mountains coming right up to the edge of a dramatic deep crystal clear blue lake with touches of green in the shallows near the lake edges. Magnificient!
Further north we go!
