my forest burned, sharp and rolling sweat sweet skin covered in ash brilliant red bursting across soft flesh in crooked lines as flames licked at the the bare shoulder blades; impressions of jaw pressure in purple bursts and the wind roared as it consumed an empty body of every lie that spilled, dripping ink from picked finger beds and howl one singular truth hidden for months my forest burned, swallowing heart beats, moans, honey dew names licking inside mouths that should never have touched but couldn’t stay away from each other working every hour not to fall into the curve of hips and fingers that itched for truths that weren’t ours and you held me with guilt and lust, agony already blossoming behind your iris and my past already dying behind mine. my forest burned, my chest constricting on smoke smeared oxygen tasting like your name and I shouldn’t have screamed it into tornados of ashen leaves as my back curled up like the knobbed branches holding us together and apart, already too close to be this far apart, and my forest fucking burned.
