Reposted from @limboaccra Limbo? A number of high rise properties on Lagos Island are under the mystery of many uncertainties. Who owns what? State, federal government or private. What was it built for? Affordable Housing? For the nouveau rich or bourgeoisie? Simply, a lot of the buildings on Lagos Island, perhaps in particular, Onikan — are underutilised. While at the same time, there have been attempts to repurpose some fallow buildings, and even fashion out entirely new products. A so to speak, 'Re-Jig' of the Onikan District. I'll be taking over @limboaccra's Instagram through this short week. Sharing little perspectives on principally the city of Lagos. Do tune in and follow. #limboaccra #yení #africanarchitecture (at Lagos, Nigeria) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE2BRXeFjyB/?igshid=1gpz28mxk9fu8
#OnTheSite — ‘Limbo Accra (@limboaccra): A Platform Designing Alternative Use of Space in West African Cities’ ——— “For our maiden exhibition, we focused on the narrative functions of luxury homes in the changing neighborhood of East Legon, Accra, staging the installation on-site at (and in collaboration with) an unfinished estate. Each room of the estate featured a local artist, designer and cultural critic. The result was a quartet of groundbreaking and evolving art works from across the country which all explore radical new relationships between modernizing Accra and its future.” — @dpetitfrere of @limboaccra talked to us about why Limbo was founded + the boundaries it pushed at the first exhibition featuring works by @davidalabo @afrogallonism @tagoeturkson @diegoasamoa @freetheyouth_ghana & others. —— #a2omag #a2ostories #limboaccra #architecture #africanarchitecture #disrupt #accra #newdevelopments #gentrification #accraexhibitions #installation (at Adjiringanor East Legon - Accra) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx4sDqNACdz/?igshid=1x540mye1ime1
