Introducing Dixie-Jean LeBeau, the girl of all fucking time. Her momma is from Mississippi, her daddy is from Louisiana, and when they both retired from activism and superhero-ing, they had Dixie-Jean in Texas! Her father definitely imprinted on her in a big way personality-wise, being a fun dad who loves his girl so, so much. She's even a New Orleans Saints fan over the Dallas Cowboys, since that's all her dad will watch during the Football season! (And also because the Cowboys haven't won the Superbowl since the 90s.) Anna-Marie does not like the fact that Dixie-Jean is just like him as much as he does. If there's one she did learn, it was how to appreciate a lady-- Remy definitely reminded her that all women are queens! Sometimes she's a little... well, a lot fond of women. She's a lesbian though and through! Before she really becomes part of the X-Men, she works on a ranch, driving a peeling-paint Chevrolet stick-shift truck. She's as Southern (and Texan) as pecan pie, and you better not forget it! She's blue collar, pro-Worker's Union, hoping endlessly for a blue wave, and always pro-LBGT with the T! Always pretty jolly, she's very friend-forward and will never stand down when someone's in trouble. (This sometimes gets her in trouble though.) She still hates those LED-Headlights Ford Trucks that are 12 feet tall and are always riding your ass as much as everyone else does, too. She will break check you. Her truck is worth less than your insurance rates and she knows it. Her power is a mix of both of her parents'-- Kinetic Absorption! She absorbs kinetic energy, stores it, and can use to to show incredible feats of strength! Almost terrifying feats of strength, especially paired against an enemy like Juggernaut, who has the potential to trudge and trudge and does not stop. She's best friends with Porter Eisenhardt, who we will see later. When designing Dixie-Jean, we wanted her to be un-apologetically Southern, and tried to bring together all the things that Southern lesbians we know would love to see in a girl their age. Lots of girls who love girls in Texas, for sure!

Limboverse

hello tumblr!

we've mentioned limboverse in our posts before, but we've never really explained what it is. so, here's an in-depth history and explanation of this roleplay/au!

long post incoming...

(let me set the scene. it's october, 2022.)

limboverse started as a ride the cyclone roleplay, (that I MADE (in a caffeine induced energy burst) -🌺) which takes place several years after the canon plot (the choir is roughly 20-21). we added fankids from alternate universes into it, as well-- savannah and donnie (spacedolls), amelie (nischa), and river (blackrose)

...everything started going downhill when dhar mann was introduced (11-10-22). it started off as a joke but soon enough, he was integral to the lore (being presumably a god and ricky's lover.) after dhar mann, we started adding other musical characters. spring awakening and falsettos were the first non-rtc characters.

for the next week or so it was extremely chaotic, with real people being brought in as jokes, leading to the creation of the "normal roleplay" channel. (the retired roleplay channel is still used for shitposting.) it was around here that non-musical characters were introduced in a serious manner.

as more characters were brought in, the setting was brought into question. it was impossible for all of these different universes to intersect naturally, so we made it fit. enter: limbo. (first mentioned: 11-14-22. began being used for worldbuilding around 12-09-22.)

and now for the actual explanation of what limbo is and how it applies to the roleplay!

-limbo is a ghost town with no way out. people (the characters) wake up in the surrounding forest and wander in. there are 3 main streets that have houses and a row of shops.

-it regenerates food and resources weekly. despite this, there is only one working fridge. the Limbo Fridge is located at the town center and is used as a landmark. there is an 82-year-old package of edamame in the fridge that has bad side effects when eaten-- also, it respawns/grows when removed. the victims of the edamame claim to have a psychic connection to it post-food poisoning.

-the actual roleplay portion of it takes place within the "limbo neighborhood watch" group chat. everyone who wakes up in limbo automatically has a phone with this installed. dms also exist for characters who came from the same universe-- groundhog day dms, falsettos dms, omori dms, etc.

-buildings within limbo: the store, mendel's psychiatrist's office/dispensary, the cafe, the marriage hall, and the pharmacy

-there is a giant groundhog.

and now, for the most used/iconic characters of limbo!

-MENDEL WEISENBACHFELD (falsettos). i guess you could say he's the antagonist of limbo? he's violently homophobic due to being a repressed bisexual. played by buddy.

-PHIL CONNORS (groundhog day). he is in constant anguish. married to rita. played by mart.

-RITA HANSON (groundhog day). also in constant anguish but more organised about it. played by theora.

-KEVIN PRICE (the book of mormon). got bullied and now he's not an asshole anymore. works at the cafe as a barista. his only friends are rita and 2 teenage girls. played by me (annie)!

-MARVIN (falsettos). hes a little hater. he's also in looooooove. played by sunny.

-WHIZZER (falsettos). sarcastic ass. he has a talking cat named colonel pumpkin. played by me, pt 2.

-ALL OF THE RTC CHARACTERS AND FANKIDS (will be expanded on later).

-OMORI KIDS (omori). sunny, basil, and kel. they are always up to some shit. played by annie, basil, and yuri.

Shai Eisenhardt-Kitumaini (he/him) is the youngest of the Magnet family, and absolutely made all of Magneto's other kids very bitter, because Magneto absolutely loved that chubby-cheeked little fish baby and his little webbed feet… And none of them ever got that kind of treatment with their snappy, curmudgeonly father. (Most importantly, Pietro struggled with Shai's existence for many years.) Magneto's gift to Idira, Shai was the final addition to his bloodline (with Magneto and Idira's knowledge in genetics, Shai was a test-tube baby) before he was buried about 13 years later. In the world, the mutants sort of won. They can mostly live in society without too much fear from humanity at large, but the Friends of Humanity and other Anti-Mutant groups definitely still exist and are very active.

Magneto took it upon himself specifically to train his fish-boy son to the best potential he possibly could, despite being quite old at this point. Shai grew quickly, matching his retired-Terrorist father in stature and height, if not a little bit wider. It initially seemed to be that his ability to quickly adapt to using his mutations was simply an extension of his Fish Person Physiology and perhaps the X-gene he carried from both Magneto and Idira. …Though Magneto never got to see his actual X-gene ability: Mutation Empowerment. In times of intense stress and danger, Shai can transform his body into a much more monstrous fish-monster to deal with tasks at hand. Iron-hard scales deflect bullets and punches, his muscles and hands morphed into gigantic arms and fins and claws. His mouth, while his teeth already regenerated quickly, grows many, many rows of teeth in addition. He later learns more about his connection with the water and ocean that's inherent to his being with his living father, Idira.

Shai's fathers instilled in him a great pride and appreciation of Mutants and their abilities. He learned of Idira's culture, and is regular attendee at a local Reform Temple. He's quite invested in religious study in his free time, even following Kashrut, despite his father's mostly-non-involvement with the religious aspect of his history. Embracing who he was, and the reality of other Mutants, no matter their appearance, was encouraged.

Shai ultimately is very socially awkward, not really sure how to approach common high-schooler social problems, but has a strong sense of justice and equity. He also knows he's 6'10" and built like a Mack truck. He smiles like a kindergartner who doesn't really understand the concept of photographs, he cries loud and often, he's just a sensitive and very emotional boy. He does carry the stigma of being the child of the late Mutant Terrorist Magneto, but at the end of the day, he is a kinder evolution of the man that passed on to continue to fight for Mutantkind's rights and dignity.

The late Magneto himself spent many years with Idira Kitumaini and enduring trauma therapy with Jean Grey (which was terrifying for Jean and harrowing for Magneto) as he worked for the Xavier School as a particularly asocial and cranky Administrator, which was surprisingly a good menial job for him due to his history with multiple Doctorates and known languages, and his past of managing not only organizations but also countries. And yes, Charles and Erik fought vocally weekly, and still sat around in the morning like old men to play chess every week and discuss the books they read at home. Not focusing on his pain and taking himself out of danger helped his mind to be eased more, especially with work he and Charles had done together to stabilize Humanity's opinion of Mutants and greatly disenfranchise the organization of hate groups like the FOH. They definitely agreed on almost nothing, still. Even about the amount of sugar in your coffee, what a proper balanced meal consists of, and the best over-the-counter pain medication.

All of that culminated in that big guy of a fish, Shai! A (slightly) more healed Magneto who taught him to empower himself, and another traditional and culturally-minded and kind father taught him everything he knows. Shai is observant, a sweet boy, and though confused by social convention, with time he becomes an impactful public speaker and interfaces well with the public. Also, you probably don't want to do hand-to-hand combat with him, though he has moral objections to ever killing anyone. He's a great friend to all! As an adult, he comes to lead the X-Men as the pro-Mutant activist (and mercenary) group it becomes after the deaths of Charles and Erik.

Shai is somehow both simple and complex. He's figuring himself out, too!

Finally, finally actually adding the more canonical CARRION artwork we've done. Imaniiiiiii. As a Mutant with an inherent psychic link to Death's energy, he has the power of Death Manipulation. He usually uses this to solve Mutant cold cases, but as he grows in his abilities, of course he knows how to use it more efficiently. Knowing how dangerous his power can be, he keeps himself very, very restrained... However, he's still a 19-year-old, so he likes to have fun and hang out when he's not being a Goth about it.
