*takes a deep breath*  thank you friend. 

           I may get a little worked up about derek and how undervalued his intelligence is, but it’s honestly because he is so smart and people in fandom have a tendency to treat him like he’s not. when you stack any character in the series up against lydia and peter ( known geniuses ) or even stiles, who’s a smart kid and has his father’s knack for a type of investigative intelligence, of course the other characters aren’t going to be on their level. it’s like grading on a curve.          honestly, that gifset is just the tip of the iceberg, little examples of derek’s intelligence that were easy enough to break down into clips. I could launch into a few more in depth examples, but i’ll just go into one at the moment, and i’m choosing this one because it’s something everyone says derek fucked up on. choosing erica, isaac, and boyd for his pack. people write it off as him choosing the ‘weak ones’ or other such drivel. let’s be clear here, I won’t argue that there wasn’t a degree of manipulation, but he picked the targets he believed would agree to the bite. and he did give them a choice. he didn’t go into detail about the shortcomings of being a werewolf, but he let them decide if they wanted what he was offering. power, health, a sense of belonging. it takes an intelligent person to predict behavior, to analyze and observe until you’re sure that you are making the right move. he didn’t choose them on a whim, he made what he truly believed to be the smartest play he could make.         IDK. I just have a lot of emotions about derek and intelligence and that gifset is my favorite.
