Limpkin (Aramus guarauna) EAT A TASTY SNAIL!!!, family Aramidae, order Gruiformes, Cillinan Park, Sugar Land, TX, USA

Limpkins specialize in eating large aquatic snails, like apple snails, but also feed on other small aquatic animals.

In the US, Limpkins were known to only commonly occur in and breed in Florida, but have been moving along the Gulf Coast in recent years, and have moved into East TX, where they are now regularly seen.

These are from nearly two years ago but whatever. Limpkins! That one time there were two limpkins at a lake i visit sometimes, they’re pretty rare for us and im so happy i got to see them. These were taken about 20 seconds after my birding partner saying “we never see waders other than gbh’s in the winter here” well well well..
