#lin plains

Poppies are growing in our garden and the colors were a nice fit for a “poppy corioalar” in two versions.

The name “Lin” kept popp(y)ing up in my head every time I imagined corioalars walking and flying around the river, so the local subspecies now goes by this name. I always wanted to land on some longer, epic name, but maybe it makes sense that “everyday creatures”, which they are in the region, don’t carry complicated names straight out of symphonic power metal albums. ;)

Taking walks along the river inspired some work on corioalars. It appears in its own variation in the story now, the area going by the name of “Lin plains” through which the river Ohnend (overblown German for “endless”) meanders. It’s pretty close to the loose connection of towns where Senta und Joseph live and she actually spent a lot of time there after her return from Aritha. I already had her roam the area, but it’s nicely defined now and fits the storyline.

The three above were inspired by a heron that lives at the river and two nice leaves I picked up around there.

Man, the covid-related homeoffice started so nicely and I thought to finally have a lot of time to recoup... and for weeks on end now, my own body is doing a number on itself by throwing its already brittle sleep out of the window. I’m starting to think that I’m an inherently guilty person because, well, a guilty person apparently deserves this. Like a tiny, whiny version of Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist or The Machinist.
