"Finishing each other’s sandwiches": when in character interaction, ideally in roleplay but is also applicable to other writing scenarios, a character’s canonical cardinal personality traits are retconed without in-game explanation for the sake of making them more compatible with another character; blatantly changing a character for no reason other than to make it more appealing to another player and/or their character.
Origin: In the animated film Frozen, when the character Hans is attempting to gain the favor of the princess Anna, he tries to convince her that they are naturally compatible. When he expects her to say that the two of them finish each other’s sentences, she instead says they finish each other’s sandwiches. He salvages the situation by claiming that was what he was going to say.
