Hej käraste <3
I have an ask for you I haven't seen on your blog yet (I'll send the same ask to your other blog):
In an orpheus and eurydice scenario, who would not look back at all and live? Who would look back early, and who would look back close to the end, when things become more difficult?
OH MY GOOOOOD. BABES, THIS IS A HARD ONE. Enjoy the sad???
S pauses right as they reach the precipice. Their steps faltering to a stop, only for a short moment before they say; with the strength and assuredness to counter any fear in both of them. "I love you." They don't look back, and step out into the world of the living alongside their love.
Yeaaah this one is hard cause, S is kinda... how do I put this... Dumb? But they love MC with all they have, even if that happens to be just hope.
Hakiem has not stopped during the whole journey, his feet bruised and sore by the point the two of them reach the edge separating the underworld and the living one. He doesn't stop even when the light touches his skin, nor when his sandals catch on the rough ground. Only once a few steps outside the entrance of the cave does he turn; undeniable love in his eyes as they warm from seeing MC alive and well again.
Easy honestly, Hakiem is a very patient man, almost to a fault. Even if he was to turn once 'both' had reached the world of the living and MC was never there and it was just a cruel trick, he would have tried. That matters to him.
Elton sees the light, the trickling of it against the rough cave wall. His feet leaving echoes that drive him half insane, yet there has been non of MCs. 'Forgive me, forgive me, forgivemeforgiveme-' "Forgive me-" He turns, to be meet with that warm smile he had fallen for, like Icarus into the sea- and it doesn't fade. Even as MC does-
'I do.' MCs lips move, give no sound, nothing but shapes that soon lose themself along the tears Elton sheds. That night he stays, right on the verge between the land of living and the underworld. What else can he do? There is nothing out there for him.
This was a hard one, cause Elton is hardy, he is. He if gruff and stoic and at times mean. But if he fell for MC? It'd be over for all of us, we lose, we can never have him- even if MC was to pass. He is devoted the same way a hound is to its master, but uh. Like - a penguin that mates for life.
The two pass by the fields of asphodel, and already there is a nagging feeling of doubt digging into The Boss' mind, what was the word of the god of death; how trusting can he truly be? "MC?" They ask, receiving only the faint rustling of wind across the fields. "I- Have come to love you, far more than I ever thought someone like me ever could, I wish for you to know that."
Then they turn, to see tears trailing down cold cheeks, cheeks they will never be able to caress. 'I love you too.'
This was a surprising one for me, cause I always though of The Boss as someone really really nonchalant and figured they would simply just rush through it all so they could have MC again, but- this felt more fitting. A quiet confession, controlled heartbreak.
M steadies themself, feet just about to pass the crossing of life and death. It didn't mean much to them, before MC. It was simply the way of things, they accepted it with the still acceptance of one avoiding emotion like a plague. But that was until MC, beautiful, lively, spirited MC. Even if this was all a rouse, a cruel trick to be played on mortals of the world, there was a chance. They step across, grass under their feet, flowers dancing across the moonlight field. "M?" Their knees buckle and they fall, a broken sound escaping them. Yet they dare not look; even as warm and gentle lips come to kiss their own.
Yeah, M would, if they failed, speed run back down to Hades and have some very strong words shared between them. Possibly just out of the hope to be punished just as harshly as they just made MC be for their own inadequacies. But they would succeed, by force if they had to, meaning they would actually rather blind themself and stumble out of there bloodied if it gave MC a better chance.
Sigurd keeps humming, a soft tune just under their breath. The trip had been filled with it, that nervous tune, moments of them almost turning around and quickly stopping themself. But as they stood right at the entryway of life, the song goes silent. They shouldn't. They know that, they feel it physically in their body.
Their mind screams at them as they finally turn, face falling upon seeing MC stand there. "Oh- Oh no. I had to be sure... I didn't-" Tears fall, rolling across their reddened cheeks. "I'm so sorry- I can fix this- I will.. I will find you again! I promise!"
Yeah Sigurds own anxiety and doubt would prevent this from going right, and their delusions would make them believe they could fix this again. As if Hades was to give a second second chance.
